Hakuna Matata too Kewl to worry about the heat!

Scott and Lynn, Happy Cruising!!

I got in 11 miles this morning in 1hr 40 minutes, but it kicked my butt. I was really struggling near the end. Less than a month to my next half.

I also just realized that Race for the Taste is during the school system's fall break, so I'm trying to figure out if I can head down for that.

Best,
Jennifer

Just a quick drive by for me today. I got caught in a heavy rain storm this morning. Thank goodness I did my 8 miles yesterday. The rain drops were coming down heavy enough that it kept activating the touch bezel on my Garmin. I was soaked thoroughly within 2 minutes. So much for my new shoes. :upsidedow

I cut my run short at 2 miles because there was lightning and I wanted to keep things safe. Otherwise I would have kept going. Got a lot of strange looks from drivers but hey I was already out.

Chat later!

Hey Vicky, where you wearing a blue tank? On CTV news tonight, they showed 2 people waiting for a light in the pouring rain and Mike and I both swear it was you.

Hi Kim! No not me... :) That would have been cool though. How was Taste of the Danforth? You know, I've never been before :upsidedow

Thought for sure it was you....:confused3 It was awesome, we have only missed once in about 8 years. It seems to get bigger and busier each year.

Almost time for a mid summer nights run!!!

Vicky is out singing in the rain, Kimmer is chowing down and Scott is cruising. Darn I need a life to.

I'm headed off to the gym to put in some miles and then some good stretching, my legs are sore from my weekend, race, training, mowing and work.

I'm going to try and beat the rain with my miles and then finish the mowing.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Good morning Dave!!!!

jship210: Nothing exciting here...I just eat my normal breakfast of oatmeal. DH likes just a banana.

We don't have a particularly standard dinner for the night before the marathon. We try to always eat healthy and most good food works. However it's a good idea to avoid foods that might give you bowel issues like chilli or other bean dishes. I also avoid hot spicey food the night before. Other than that, grilled or baked chicken or fish with steamed veggies or a pasta dish are good choices.

Good morning Team!

Jack - The night before the race...I eat any darn thing I want! I know lots of people do pasta, I do too, sometimes! I am thinking of making an ADR for the 9th of January at Mama Melrose. That way I can eat pasta after the half and before the full. Just thinking about it so far....Also I am considering the Italian place in Epcot. Although, I am love Liberty Tree Tavern. :rotfl:

Good morning, Dave! Sorry to hear your legs are sore. Don't make it worse!

Kim! Good morning! How the heck are you? Are you recovering from your food fest? My very favoritist kind of festival!

Got in 3.25 miles yesterday. The kids all came by. That was fun! Today is a rest day. I need it! Company coming this evening!

See ya! Connie

Ooppps sorry read the question wrong..:headache: Night before I don't eat anything in particular..but try to keep the carbos and protien balanced. I also avoid anything spicy;)

Hey Connie, WTG on the milage. Enjoy your rest day and your company!!!!

Hi Dave!!!

Good Monday Morning Team!

Can't find the sleeping smilie! Storms yesterday, last night & early this morning. More expected later today.

Got in a very pathetic run on Sat. & swimming yesterday. I really needed the pilates class yesterday but it was cancelled. I'm in the running funk right now. Can't get the hip flexors/ hammies to loosen up. Tight, tight, tight. No matter how much stretching I do. Wish I had extra $ for a massage.

Vicky, Drag about the new shoes.

Make it a great day. Yoga tonight......Sue

Happy Monday team! Got my shoes all dried out so they're good to go for tomorrow. They sort of look grey instead of the new bright white. Oh well. I'll be going to the gym tonight for my usual training. Really high humidity today, it seems like it's going to stay that way for the rest of the week.

Sue - I hear ya! I go once a month and wish I could book massages more often. Actually I was thinking about you on the weekend and was wondering how you were able to do so many miles and not get injured or have tight muscles. Have you tried using a foam roller or tennis ball? I know they're not the same as a massage but I started adding a few minutes of foam rolling before and after my runs and it seems to have helped somewhat.

Jack - I tend to load up on carbs just because I can. I'm really addicted to white bread, pasta, sugar so I guess it's just as excuse. I also try to get in some lean protein like Dave - chicken, fish. I also avoid things with too much grease or spice because they can upset my stomach.

Dave - That's quite the weekend! Are you using a push mower?

Jennifer - How did your first week of school go?

Kim - I think we've got a week and a bit. Yikes! I don't feel ready. I hope all this humidity is gone by then :)

Connie - Hope you had a good time with your guests last night! Hooray for rest days!

I'll check back in later! Have a wonderful day everyone :wave2:

Hi Team!
Been MIA for a while, but I've been feeling somewhat like a slacker recently. My knees have started acting up again, so I've done very little running. I've kept up with walking, but my pace is a slow one. Went to the Chiropractor today. He is trained in Active Release Therapy and did some deep massage on my quads. Found a spot on each knee that was really knotted up. Going back in two weeks, so we'll see what things are like then.

DH and I are leaving to drive to Denver to visit our DD on Thursday. We'll be staying for a week, so hopefully I'll be able to get out and explore her neighborhood some more. Just can't beat the scenery in Denver!

Jack, I'm partial to a good fried rice with tofu before a big race.

Vicky, It went pretty good. I've been exhausted every day though.

I did 3.1 miles in 25 minutes this morning.

Best,
Jennifer

Checking in with 3.6 miles on Sunday (workout was cut short - daughter wasn't feeling well) and 5.5 yesterday. Still not as fast as I'd like to be!

Have a great day everyone!

Terri

Good Morning Everyone!

It is very hot and humid here in NH. That will last for just a few days then we will be back to “normal”. So heading out at 4:45 this morning and having it well above 70 and very humid made it difficult to breathe but Mark and I did our 4 miles. We would not win awards in the speed dept but at least we did something.

We saw some other fools at that hour but they were younger than us and jogging. The sun came up but it was – thankfully- behind the cloud cover. As Scott says, we leaked a lot this morning. I’m sure he is too, on the track of that ship.

Still no grandbaby yet and that’s fine until she moves next week! Josie can plan her arrival for after the 21st.

Well it’s a busy day here at work so I’ll sign off.

Good to be back!

denise

Good morning Team.

This is not a time for decreasing motivation guys. We need to remember why we want to make changes in our lives. We want to live long healthy lives of course but that isn't the only reason. We want to be fit and healthy because that allows us to do everything we do better.

This time of year is a critical time for us that have committed to the January events. We have to get started and slowly increase till we are ready for the long distances we will face at the house of mouse.

We need to be keeping the positive thoughts and send the negative thoughts packing. We need to be listening to kicking music and spending some time each day with people who motivate us to do better.

We need to tell that person looking back at us from the mirror that they are worth the effort.

Have an awesome day team.

Hello team! Worked out last night with my trainer. We did some more deadlifting. I made it up to 115 lbs. I had trouble with the first set - I couldn't do more than one lift. But eventually made it to three :) I went out this morning for a run but my knee was still under the weather. It got pinchy if I tried running faster 12 m/m. So it was a slow 3 miler. I will go back out again tomorrow morning and get in a tempo run. Hopefully the knee will cooperate.

Mary - Love ART! I've had great results when my chiropractor or PT used it on my shins and hips. Not the most pleasant experience while it's happening though.

Denise - That's an early morning! I've got to start getting up earlier as my mileage is increasing.

Teri - WTG on the miles!

Dave - We need a Panda video/podcast for inspiration!! :yay: Hey, did we ever get a team picture last January?

Jennifer - That's great that you're still getting in the miles even though you're busy. How are the kids in your class? Are they behaved so far?

Kim - It felt like Thursday to me today! I need more weekend :)

Have a great day everyone!
