Hakuna Matata -Spring-ing into Action for Race Season

Sally- HI! :wave2:
Don't know when we will actually get to meet.
I have not registered for any races this year-
And I will not get to be WDW with the rest of the Team.
As for 'Speed' we are not all as fast as Dave!
I love the 15 mpm pace.

Kristie- Oh, honey I am so sorry! :sad1:
you have been on my mind and was so hoping
everything was going better for you.

Yesterday I signed up for the Soldier Field 10 mile race which ends on the fifty yard line of the Chicago Bears stadium. The capacity of the race is ten thousand so it should be alot of fun. If anyone can make it, you can cheer me on, as access to the stadium is free to friends and family. I have made a pledge to the American Cancer Society for this race. If anyone whishes contribute, please look me up on facebook. Any and all donations are much appreciated! I will be going solo as my wife has to work that day...:sad1:

Liz will be running her first non-Disney race tomorrow, and her first since ACL replacement last fall! A local 5K! She is a little nervous, but I think she willl do fine!

-------------------

Margie~ Thanks for your contribution and all the support you give (to me and the team!)

Sally~ Please check in often! Hope to meet you at WDW!

Kirstie~ Let me get this straight, the manufacturer couldn't fix your ride? What's up with that?

Robert~ Way to support other runners! Great job!

Connie~ Okay, maybe the stupid part is saved for the guys! I'm sure you're still a babe!

Hope~ Good job making work a workout! You got paid to do it too!

Vicky~ You are a workout machine!

Gerry~ Good luck tomorrow in your race! I've never run on the sand before. Only about two months to Everest! :woohoo:

Regina~ Did you ever get new shoes?

Hope all is well with everyone else! Train hard! -Mike :cool2:

Margie, Of course. Let's see I got a running DRESS (so excited) and cute purple top. I also decided to pick it up a bit and bought a pair of racing flats for the summer 5k/10k season (we're getting close to that magic 45 minute 10k and sub 22 5k)

4 miles in 34 minutes this morning.

Jennifer

Hi Everyone! Wow, I miss logging on for a few days and I have pages to read!

Thanks for all your feedback on the timing/distance equipment! I'll start researching those soon to see what else may work for me. Sounds like most of you are using a Garmin and liking it.

Kirstie- I just can’t believe all the trouble you’re having getting your chair working! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you...

Vicky- I’m not much of a baker so I can’t really help much on the peanut butter question… What kind of birthday “present” did you get that can be deducted by your father as a “business expense”? I’m glad your workout w/PT and Darrell went so well. Keep up the great work!

Gerry- I’ve never run on packed sand before, but it definitely seems like it would be a challenge. It also seems if you were running on loose sand your body/feet would be working harder to maintain than if you were running on solid ground? If that’s the case I could see how it would slow you down. Congrats on your 5K this weekend. How did it go? Hopefully better than last week?

Connie- Congrats on losing 14 pounds!!!! Tomatos and peppers sound yummy. We’ve had such odd weather here lately I keep forgetting what time of year we’re in.

Dave- I’m glad to hear things are going so well with you and Sally. What are you looking for in your perfect house?

Mike- Congrats on the 8 miles!!! That’s so awesome!! Tell Liz good luck on her race tomorrow! I’m sure she will do great! :rotfl: No, it is still on my to do list to buy shoes. I still have intentions to buy new shoes but have not yet been able to make it into the running store to have my feet/gait tested. I did however buy new socks and I think that has definitely helped some.

Jennifer- Sounds like a rough day! Retail therapy definitely sounds like it’s in order! Did you catch any good deals?

ASF I had a great run Fri night. I ran a 5K in 26:33. :cloud9: I was really pleased with my workout. It was starting to rain/sprinkle as we ran but I still thought the temperature was great and I loved it. The only issue was that there was a dirt area I ran through and I tried to really focus on not slipping into a hole or losing my footing and what did I do....I rolled my ankle! I don't know how I did it since I was trying my darndest not to, but I was able to finish my run. Ankle felt ok when I got home but has been a little sore today. I'm going to keep an eye on it and take tomorrow off if it's still hurting. :confused3 In spite of the ankle issue it was still a great run. I felt good when I finished and was pleased with my faster pace. It's definitely the fastest I've run yet.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Regina, not sure what the perfect house will look like, haven't started looking yet. But I think just being there with someone who cares for me will make a lot of difference. It's so important to believe you are enough when your in your home. The rest can be made perfect. Did that make any sense?

Dave:hippie:

Hi Team! :wave2:

Freeze warnings here last night- partly sunny, high of 59° today,
Not thinking it will make it that high.
It is nice that it is not quite so windy!

I sure hope they help your feet! :goodvibes
At what age do mules reach their full growth?

Dave- Oh, I do understand. Yes, it makes lots of sense!
But I think just being there with someone who cares for me
will make a lot of difference. t's so important to believe you are enough
when your in your home. The rest can be made perfect.
Did that make any sense?

Margie, I didn't know they made dresses either. I love how it looks on me.

10 miles in 1 hour 25 minutes today. The heat has cooled off to perfect temps in the low to mid 70s.

Best,
Jennifer

Jennifer-WTG - Nice run! :goodvibes
I checked a few of the running dresses out...
I found ones at Bonita, Athleta, and Lululemon
and they are all way too cute! :cutie:
What one did you choose? Color?

Dave - Yes, I think that makes perfect sense. :) I'm happy for you and Sally!

Gerry - Congrats on your great race this weekend!:cheer2:

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Team,

I keep checking for a post from Kristie- :grouphug:
Anyone heard if her DH was able to fix her chair?
Is she able to race in the morning?

Monday, April 19th Kristie- Boston Full Marathon

I will be heading down to nashville tonight right from work for a training walk with Dan, a DisneyRunning buddy. They have some interesting hills down there, as those of you who have done the Nashville half well know.

Then I'm taking Sally to supper. I'll be taking her to the hospital there in the morning for her surgery, she is having a tumor removed from her overy and a D&C for fibroids in her uterous. They don't think it's cancer but you never know. I will be staying with her all day tomorrow so I'll be off line for a couple of days.

I had a nice pool workout this morning to stay loose for this afternoons hill training.

I think Syco posted that they didn't fix her chair. I think the poor dear is getting major frustrated.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning, TEAM!

Kristie, still hoping you are wheeling the line at Boston!!! Dang chair!

Dave, yup makes sense. I also love the freedom to just be me. Combine the two and home becomes the safest, happiest place on earth.

Margie, busy woman. I will call later.

Jennifer, cute dress. Definitely not designed for us experienced ones, but very cute. Wear in good health and injury free!

Regina, Thanks for the kind words on the weight loss. It has been so long coming... Congrats on the great run. Oh, to be fast.....:cloud9: I can dream!

Mike, the only reason guys are young and stupid is because girls are young and beautiful! :rotfl: Congrats on 8 miles. That's length enough for a good half marathon! I mean, if you can do 8, you can do a half!

Gerry, great job on the race!! That's wonderful.

More later....gotta run.

Good morning team! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Jennifer - Really cute! I've seen the running dresses at Lululemon before but always wondered what they were like to run in. Let me know how you like it.

Connie - Glad to see you posting again! :)

Dave - Safe travels! Thinking good thoughts for Sally! Keep us posted!

Margie - It didn't seem like from Kirstie's last post that she was able to fix her chair. I'm hoping she did though. Here's a link on the Boston Marathon site where you can track the top runners/chair racers. http://www.bostonmarathon.org/ You have to register to track individual racers.

Gerry - Congrats on improving your 5K time! Two minutes is pretty huge!

Regina - Great time on your 5K! I wish I could run that fast! From what my PT has told me, it doesn't take much to strain different muscles and ligaments. It could be just as simple as stepping on a small pebble and losing your footing that way. Take care of your ankle!

Mike - How did Liz do on her 5K?

Kim - How's the PX90 going?

Sue - Someone at work is running the Mississauga half and asked me about the course. Do you know anything about it? I'd imagine it would be pretty flat but I have no idea.

AFM - I weighed in on Friday and lost 2 pounds! Yay! Gives me a good idea of how much snacking I was doing  I also made my energy/protein bars. I ended up finding a no sugar, no salt peanut butter instead of the natural peanut butter. The bars turned out pretty good - DF and I halved the recipe. He made his batch with unsweetened chocolate mixed in. I thought it was a little heavy. Mine had chopped nuts and a tablespoon of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Nutritionally, they're close to a Clif bar but much lower in sugar. If I make them again, I'm going to drop the nuts and add more protein powder so that I can drop the calories a little bit.

Going to the gym tonight for a training session. Other than than that not much else.

Have a great day everyone!

I checked the Boston Marathon page and it says that Kirstie reached the 30K mark at 1:38:21. Glad she got to race afterall! :cheer2::cheer2:

Hi everyone, happy Monday!!

It was a busy weekend for us, I worked eleven days in a row, had Friday night off, and had to go back Saturday night. I bought a new washer and dryer Saturday on sale. I didn't get the government rebates as they ran out in eleven hours on Friday. Illinois was one of the last states to particpate in the program. Now, all I have to do is run new gas piping from the basement.
Liz did really great in her race on Sunday. She finished in 29:22 in what was supposed to be a 5K. Someone moved a pylon to the wrong spot and messed up the turnaround point, so it became 2.7 miles. She still had a great time and fininshed 390/529. Her pace was 9:27 a mile. I had better start training harder! This was her first official race since having her right ACL replaced on August 31st last year! :woohoo: We went out for a victory dinner to celebrate, and ate too much!
I signed up to do the Young Life run/walk in Wheaton, IL on this coming Saturday (5K).

------------------

Connie~ Thanks for the encouragement! I need it for my longer races!

Dave~ Good luck with finding a new domicile! Also, my thoughts are with you and Sally, hoping for a safe surgery and no cancer!

Gerry~ Great race! Way to do Team Hakuna Tamata proud! :woohoo:

Regina~ Also, great job! Getting quicker and quicker!:cheer2:

Jennifer~ Great times on your runs also! I'd love to do a 45 minute 10K someday!

Margie~ Yep, got most of my chores done. No more laundromat for us after this week. The machines that I bought are HUGE, and can take all of our bedding. Mower is at the shop and being tuned! Now, wheres my pillow...

I can't find the Boston Marathon on tv anywhere! As big as this race is, isn't it televised?

- Mike :cool2:

Thank you, Vicky and Mike!!

Margie has been terribly worried about Kristy and loved hearing the good news!

Congrats, Kristie!!!!
