Hakuna Matata Pass the BodyGlide Before My Thighs Catch on Fire July

Good Morning Team!

I still need to check to see if Vicky started new thread for Aug, but if not, I am still here.

Pretty windy today, do not know if we will get out again on the bikes, did a loop of our block this morning when I forgot the puppy poop bags for my dog walk, I had to go back around on the bike and clean up after the dogs. We got in 32 miles yesterday, and maybe because of the break for my dentist appt in the middle, I felt really good when we got home. Spent the rest of the day weeding.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Rick - do you have a time limit on your marathon in october? I'm getting nervous about mine bc they want everyone done in 5.5 hours. I know I can finish before disney's time limit, but am right about at that now in my training. I know I'm about 1.5-2 minutes faster per mile in my races lately than my training, but I also know they are a lot shorter than the marathon. I'm not worried I won't finish - I know I will even if it takes awhile, I'm really nervous about not getting my medal.

I believe you can finish under 5.5hrs. You are training well and you are getting in the miles and foot time. I totally appreciate the nervousness though. My last two races have been the slowest I have EVER run a Half in, and that makes me doubt my fitness level. But friends have reminded me that heat and humidity can really affect performance, and that once it cools down, the speed will return because the body will function according to the strength you've built up over the summer. So I am going to trust there wisdom and you should as well. :)

My primary goal for the Marathon is to cross that finish line with a smile on my face (ahead of the sag wagons). A lot will depend upon the weather conditions and how my body feels that day. I would be happy with a 5.5hr finish time (12:30/mm pace) given that my latest Long Runs have been in the 13:00/mm time frame. If it is hot and humid in October, then my pacing will be suffer. But if it is a cool day, I am going to be a very happy camper and will shooting for a sub 5hr time.

I cannot wait to wear that medal around my neck (as I SLOWLY walk/limp to the post-race party). LOL That day is going to rank up there as a highlight of my life. Too bad we aren't running the same race cuz that would have been EPIC!
