Hakuna Matada - Jumpin' into June!

Morning everyone! It's Wednesday! I'm really happy because I'm taking tomorrow off and will get a extra long weekend! I'm going for a massage (not sports), and a mani/pedi tomorrow morning. I haven't done my nails in a long time because of my baking class - I'm always afraid that the polish will chip into the batter and that just grosses me out.

Mike - WTG on the bike miles and the 15 miler! That's awesome! How's Liz liking the training? I went to see 'Green Lantern' last week and they had a little State Farm commercial featuring some of the Cars characters. I didn't really like them using Pixar characters to push their products. Maybe this weekend I'll check it out. I'm kind of embarassed to admit that I'm looking forward to the Winnie the Pooh movie

Dave - When are the Cleveland games? Don't work too hard this week :)

Lynn - Was I reading on FB that you have a motorcycle too?

Elizabeth - What did the doctor say about your knee? I hope it's feeling better.

Regina - How's your neck and back doing?

AFM - Yesterday was a rest day but I really wanted to go out and run. I thought about it but figured it was better to ice and actually rest. I had a Butterfinger lying around so I made some Blondies with Butterfingers. I haven't tried them yet so I don't know if they're any good but I brought a small piece to have after lunch.

Monday I did an upper body workout with my trainer. I told him I didn't want to do any leg exercises because everything felt really tight from my Sunday run. So now my arms are sore along with my legs  He also stretched out my legs and my knee does feel a bit better. I may see if I can get an appointment with my old physio next week - he does mobile appointments now :) I don't like the stiff feeling in my knee. Coach Charles suggested it might be runner's knee - can't I ever run pain free

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Got back home on Sunday night and appreciated sleeping in my own bed! But no rest for the weary -- did a cardio workout at LifeTime at 9am and got in 3.79 miles. I definitely missed running by tha lake...

Wednesdays are always the big workout day. Team Weight Loss Cardio program at 6am for 3.25 miles, followed by a long run tonight at 6:30pm with my CARA 10K training program folks. I think tonight is a 3.5 mile run in 80 degrees with 90% humidity. Oh my... :)

Mike- Nice bike ride! We need to find a day for a run. Maybe this weekend?

Okay, so my noob question for the week: What does "AFM" mean? :confused3

-Rick

Awesome training walk with my group this morning. We did 10 miles in under 2 hours. Nice conditions also, low humidity and high 60s.

One of my walking students won two 3rd place medals in the National senior olympics, I thought he was second place but it was 3rd. Still that is awesome and he did team Panda proud.

I go in for dental hell tomorrow, 5 getting pulled and a partial installed. I'm not looking forward to this and my training will suffer also.

Have a great day filled with magic and wonder y'all.

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Yes, it is easy to pull over when you get a flat, on this ride, the folks at the rest stop called the service truck, there were 3 of us there changing flats at the same time! Never had gooey butter cake - let us know how it turns out. Yes, I have a motorcycle, not been on it much, but we were planning to ride out to an Electric Company dinner tonight, but sine it will be 100 degrees where it is, I think we are going to pass.

Rick - AFM means “as for me”. Good job on the workouts!

Dave - Good to hear your walking student did well at Senior Olympics.

Mike - Yes, we are both enjoying retirement! The activity level will probably slow down after summer. The Blue Bayou is a neat resturant, can’t say about Napa Rose, never ate there. Glad we could be an inspiration to you!

AFM - Sorry it has been a few days, I find it harder to get to computer when I do not do it with breakfast, and with the weather, we are out early to beat the heat - therefore - no computer with breakfast. Today we started out with a planned 50 mile ride, we were going to do 2 laps of 25 miler ride, with a stop at home for more water, but Scott had a flat on the first lap, so I had to ride home and get the car - he totally blew out the tire, so no fixing it on the road. I ended up with 22 miles, and he ended up with 20. Yesterday we did 12 miles and on Monday we did 20 miles.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi Team,
Posting via phone again, laptop is acting up. Keeps turning on and off by itself!

Dave~ Dental work is never fun, will be thinking of you. Get the i.v. drugs if you can, knocks you out.

Lynn- what kind of motorcycle do you have? I forget...

Rick- I'll watch the weather, maybe Saturday for a run? I work til 630 am.

Vicky- mani/pedi? You will be all the more stunning! I'll watch pooh bear with you anyday! Liz is getting excited about her first tri of the year, in two weeks. A little nervous too.

- Mike

Almost fogot, I did a tempo run today. 5min warm up walk, 10 min easy run, 5min hard run - 1 min walk times 3, 10 min easy, cool down walk. Predicting 100 degrees here on Sat. Heat Index 105 ! Must hydrate !!!

Well I'm all a quiver waiting for the time to take by Valium and head to the dentist. I'm having 5 pulled and a partial put in. I'm hoping everything works out good, never had a partial so nervous about that also. I'm hoping I can eat and talk normally soon. I need to lose a few pounds but not this way, EEEEEEK!! I mean Grrrrrrrrr!!

I didn't do a training walk this morning since I had the great 10 miler yesterday. I'm thinking I won't feel like training tomorrow so looks like friday will be my next training walk. Might do a morning hard and then an afternoon easy with Sally. Sunday is a regular brisk hour with Sally.

How is everyone else holding up? Anyone having issues with the summer heat?

Good Morning Team! (At least it is still morning here for another hour)

Mike - I have a Honda Pacific Coast - they did not make very many of them, just for a few years in the early 90's. I have an '89 - the first year they were made.
Yes, definitely hydrate it that heat!

Dave - We have been getting out early before it gets hot, we are lucky here that it cools off at night, lows are usually 50-60 in the summer, so the mornings are cool. Good luck at the dentist!

AFM - We decided this morning to put off the 50 miler until tomorrow, as the skies did not look very friendly - we went out for a short(er) ride - 25 miles, and the skies did not open up on us. Then we took dogs for a loop (1.27 miles) - the first dog walk since Taiya cut her paw. She faired fine. I guess tomorrow will be the 50 miler. I do not know that I am looking forward to it as I got really sore today in the 25 miles - we have been putting a few miles on the bikes!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hello team!

Rick - Welcome! Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Regina - We Tivo a bunch of stuff because it's usually on too late or we're not home when it's on. Since regular season shows are over we didn't miss too much. Several of the shows we tivo are Big Bang Theory, NCIS, Jeopardy, Daily Show, and Colbert Report. Right now I'm also tivo-ing all the women's World Cup soccer games since they are on when I'm at work. Hope your neck and back are feeling better!

Kim - I'm glad Kevin is ok. I've never heard of aqua Zumba. I took a Zumba class earlier this year, it was ok but I thought it was very repetitive and not much of a workout.

Elizabeth - Pixie dust for your knee!

Mary - Congrats on your 5k!

Mike - I've never been to Napa Rose although I've always wanted to go. I haven't been to Blue Bayou either, but have been to Cafe Orleans which is right across from Blue Bayou. I had the Monte Cristo there and it was great.

Vicky - I'm not a Winnie the Pooh fan but I just saw the commercial last week and it made me kind of want to see it, so don't be embarassed. Pixie dust for your knee! I've never heard of gooey butter cake before. I'm hoping to try out my ice cream maker (that I bought last year) for the first time this weekend. I'm going to try coconut ice cream.

Dave - Hope your dentist appointment went ok! It's starting to heat up out here. It supposed to be in the 90s this weekend so we'll have to get up early to beat the heat. So far, we've been holding up ok.

Lynn - Wow, that's a lot of miles you have been putting in! Sounds like you've had some fun rides.

AFM - I get a long weekend off from work for the holiday :cool1: The women's World Cup started this week so I've been watching a lot of soccer. I'm catching up on some of the games I've missed this morning. Patrick only gets Monday off so we don't have any travel plans.

This weekend we need to get serious about trip planning. We still need to book a room for January. We're also thinking about going to San Francisco at some point.

Our running has been going alright the past couple of weeks. We counldn't run at our usual spot last weekend so we ended up doing our LR around the neighborhood. We did more hills than we are used and also went down into the Arroyo and ran on some dirt trails. So, we didn't get the whole 5 miles becuase of the different terrain and the heat.

It's supposed to be even warmer this weekend, so we'll have to get out early for our LR.

Have a good day!
Emily

Hi, everyone,

Sorry I've been off so long. The girls had end-of-year events at school this week. Of course, being on a year-round schedule means that I've also been attending events for the beginning of the next grade too!

The ortho says that my knee pain is a result of osteochondritis dissecans, also known as OCD. In spite of the pain, being diagnosed with something called OCD is :lmao:. Right now I'm to limit my running and do other activities that don't cause unnecessary weight on the knee. I don't think my case is bad enough to warrant surgery, as most adult OCD of the knee cases do.

Enjoy the weekend and for everyone in the US, Happy 4th!

Good morning y'all.

Dental adventure went good, the deep cleaning was worse than getting the teeth pulled and the partial installed. I'm not even sore today, the teeth that were removed were loose anyway so they didn't fight to hard.

I have the air conditioning repair people out at 9am this morning then I'll do a training walk and finally finish up the yard work.

Have an awesome day.
