Hairdressers/Barbers - anyone used it?

DD1 needs her hair trimmed desperately. Was thinking of getting it done at the DLRP hairdressers. Read in the Brit Guide that it's 10 euro for a child which isn't bad.

Anyone used it - was it OK?

Awww what a shame - she needs it done desperately and thought it would be a nice experience. It didn't stipulate in the guidebook that it was men only...

I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a hair salon at Hotel New York. (haven't stayed there yet..... but will have been there this time in 3 months )

There is a Hair Salon in the Hotel New York, or a barbershop on Main Street. In WDW you can have a first cut there, but in DLP it is aimed at men (great straight razor shaves). Both hair facilities do need appointments, but you could make those arrangements.

If you look at my Avitar, that is my daughter having her very first haircut on Main Street in WDW, they gave her a free pair of embroidered ears, a certificate and clippings to keep.

My friends Ludo and Micheal who used to be barbers at DLP wanted to do that, but the leadership team stopped them for some reason. They both got annoyed and left. It's a real shame.

That's so sweet! Nice that they gave her some freebies too.

It's such a shame when management stop friends being able to do stuff like that, it just leads to disspointment all round which is not something you'd ever associate with Disneyland!!

I try not to reveal too many things about the "real world" of disney I know, but maybe some folks will cut me a little slack when I appear somewhat grumpy about the business models at time.

At least the barbershop is still there (they nearly turned it into a plush corner). And for any guy who wants a real pampering, I do really recommend a shave and a hair cut (followed by/preceding a three course meal and wine)! Who said DLP was just for kids?!

It is a real shame. We may get it done at the HNY but tbh I don't think it would be the same as on Main Street or the Arcades.

My DH might be tempted though - although he did it once before in Turkey and it was an 'experience'

To be honest PJ, I would not bother with the one at the HNY if you are thinking of a cool experience. It is a very modern salon, like you would expect in any major city where they do tredy cuts and things.

Be sure to book 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment.
