I am planning to have my ds have his first hair cut at the barbershop on main st in mk. :goodvibes Can my dh also have his hair cut there or is it only for children?:confused3

My DH purposely lets his hair grow before a trip so that he CAN get his hair cut down there!

When we went in January, they even threw some pixie dust in my hair while I was waiting for him!

Hopefully, the timing will work out and our DS can have his first haircut down there -- it's looking like he won't have enough in January, but perhaps next December....

Thanks for the responses. :goodvibes

my dh wants to share my ds first haircut experience so this is the first time he is actually letting his hair grow. :rotfl2:

That is sooo cool. I want to get my DD's first haircut there (of course DS9 wants to get some cool colored gel too) Poor thing is almost 2.5 and has been to WDW 5 times and NOT had her hair cut. I just KNEW we would make it this year but no dice, the only day we were in MK was for MNSSHP and not until about 8pm.

It's been suggested more than once that I get her hair trimmed, then have it cut again on our next WDW trip and take pics and "pretend" like it was her first haircut. I say NO WAY! I'm hangin' in for the real deal.

I think it is cute that DH is going to do that for your son!

Hope you have a blast on your trip!

I wouldn't cut it because of other people...and I didn't. The front of my DD's hair was long and uneven while the back of her head was short and wispy but I help firm for her 1st haircut at WDW, she was 2. While I was waiting for my trip I discovered that a small front of the head side pony just including the crown of her hair would camouflage her hair imperfections just fine. I had a friend who never cut her DD's hair until she was in the 1st grade, and it looked fine... DF just told people she was growing it out.

That's sooo funny. My ds is over due for his haircut. It's long in the back and needs some type of style but his grandmother still believes he is not ready yet for his first haircut. :rotfl:

But the way I look at it where else is the best place to have your first haircut- WDW :goodvibes

DH desperately needed a haircut several trips ago, but didn't have time to get one before we left (it's one of his least favorite things in the world to do). So one of the first days of the trip he went to get his haircut and they even talked him into putting blue gel in his hair (couldn't convince him to get glitter tho  ). He looked very cute walking around the MK  . I will say that the blue hair gel never really dried and ended up on his shirt, the hotel towels, etc. I say your DH should go for it!

Thanks for the tip- I will tell dh not to try the blue dye but maybe I can get him to try the pixie dust :rotfl2::lmao:

I so wanted my youngest DS to get his 1st haircut at WDW. He is 13 months. Unfortunately his first haircut came from his older brother who cut the top center VERY short. I took him yesterday for his first professional cut to even things out because it was looking pretty raggedy and we had an appointment for Christmas pictures with a "fancy schmancy" studio in town (they did a $35 special that included 2 5X7s and a sheet of wallets so I couldn't resist. I'm sure I will have to call on all of my restraint not to buy more once I see the pics though!). It's cut so short there is no way he'll need another cut in 3 weeks when we go. :( Before I scheduled these pictures I was saying I'd just leave it and wait...DH wasn't happy. We had a baby with a mullett and he was less than thrilled about that. ;)

Since both of my girls have extremely curly hair they don't need a haircut until they are much older. I meant to have DD4 (then 3 1/2) get her haircut there last April but ran out of time. Well she still hasn't had it cut but we are planning on a trip in February so I will get it cut then. Now her hair is about 2 to 3 inches above her bottom when wet but still only shoulder length when dry. I have thought about trimming it up but I have held off. Like I said, she has lots of curls so it's really not a big deal as far as a style goes, it does it's thing! After this first cut I'll get it trimmed occasionally to keep it looking healthy but I am hoping to grow it out for locks of love eventually.

Well, your DH certainly can have his haircut there. Adults are welcome. However, I would suggest just having the little one get his hair cut for timing sake, unless you walk by and notice that there is no one at the barbershop. We went to the MK in September and the ONLY thing that my DD7 wanted to do this year was get sparkles & hair dye at the barbershop. (She wanted to spend her own money and couldn't afford the BBB yet.) So, we get to the barbershop and have to wait 1hr15min just to have this done because there were three grown men having their hair cut inbetween the 6 or 7 kids getting pixie dust sparkles or first haircuts. Me and all the other moms were livid, seeing red, etc. because these grown men had to spend forever primping, fussing, etc. We were all thinking, why didn't they just go to Great Clips? I was trying sooo hard to believe in the magic and not let the endless waiting ruin my day, but it was pretty hard. If your DH wants to feel like he is part of the first haircut, hand him the camera or video recorder and let him be in charge of documenting the big event while you stand next to the little one and keep him entertained and sitting still on that great big tall spinning chair.
