On our last cruise we had the girls hair braided at CC. They did a wonderful job. They lasted for 10 days before I made the girls take them out.

My question is.....are the braids on the ship as good? I was thinking about getting an appointment for the last day at sea before we go to CC so that way we won't miss the fun at CC.

Do they cost the same on the ship as at CC??

Hope

I also had our DD done at CC the first time and they did last for weeks. This past trip I had her braids done on our day at sea. I just had four braids and beads and they were only $1 per braid and they looked so cute. I loved the braids the first trip, but her hair is so thin and it was really hard on it. You can see it in my picture on my signature.princess:

I did see tons of girls getting those braids on board and they all looked really good. I believe it is some of the same people that do it at CC. I would book my time as soon as you board cause I believe the times fill fast.:wave2:

We got my DD6's hair braided (corn-rowed) on the second day at sea and her braids lasted about 10 days as well. They did a great job.

Hey travelin' mouse...........i read the port canaveral nav and it said the reservations are taking from 4:30 - 5:30 the first day....I missed it the first time we cruised and they were full all week. Luckily we were able to do it at CC. Just read your NAV carefully!!!

btw travelin' mouse.....i was born at butterworth hospital in G.R. ...I have family there and visit a lot........nice town!!

Were from Hudsonville only 15 min. away. I think my DD9 would like her hair done too. I'll check it out when we get on board.

I think Grand Rapids is a nice place to live too~! Thanks for all the info, timing is EVERYTHING, so if i know when to make reservations it helps ALOT~! Thought the girls would have easy hair dos if we could get it done right away~!

Do you think getting your hair braided on the island or boat is better?::MinnieMo

Hey--we live in Rockford, MI--Pretty close!

I had my daughter's hair done on board, and I had mine done on CC. They were both great. My daughter had the braids in her hair for 6 weeks! She only had them done to the crown of her head, and they were looking pretty "ratty" by six weeks, but she was thrilled!

We didn't have any trouble getting an appointment either place. I actually did a "walk in" at both places. I guess I got lucky! We went on the Wonder in May last year, and are going on the Eastern Magic next April (2005).

First I want to say to BabyJosie, your little Josie looks adorable!!!

To all you others, I wanted to share that I also was thinking of getting my hair braided on the cruise, but from advice I gathered here on the boards, I decided to get it done at home in my beauty shop just before we cruise. Three reasons...1st, it costs less and 2nd, My hair is very fine and my beautician knows how to deal with my stubborn hair, and 3rd, I won't have to use an hour of ship time sitting still to have the braiding done. This is just an idea.

EmmasGrammy, that is a very good tip. My sister had her whole head done the last time we sailed and her only complaint was the time it took.

after getting the braids make sure you put sunscrean on the scalp. It will burn since their are parts on the scalp that are usually covered with hair.:smooth:

We missed the opportunity to get braiding appts. onboard (it filled up quickly) but there are plenty of women on the beaches on the islands who do braids - great quality- and sometimes a better deal than on the ship or cc, you just have to negotiate with them.

I had read a lot of info that cautioned against having it done on the islands, due to questions about how well the combs, etc. were sanitized. I read some lice horror stories, and that pretty much did it for me....

I read those same things. I had my girls done at Castaway Cay. They did a wonderful job. The girls said it only hurt a little :teeth:
