Both my daughter and my niece want to get their hair braided. When do they start to take the reservations and where is it done on the ship? Thanks.

When we sailed a few weeks ago they took reservations at 5:30pm at Preludes bar on the day we sailed. They have two women doing the braiding on certain days and they do it out by the goofy pool. Both my DD's did this. One just had a quarter head and it took about 1/2 hour and only cost $24 dollars. My oldest DD wanted a full head. This took about 2 hours and cost $96 dollars. Another note...I got their at about 5pm and was the second person there. Eventhough I was the second and the person in front of me picked a different day there were already times blocked out( people that are in Cat 1, 2 or 3 get first pick before they let the rest of the population choose ).

Good Luck!

My DD 9 likes to have fresh braids for her return home. We made an appt. on Thursday in Mickey's Mates for CC. We had no wait and Eva was great! The whole head cost $78 + tip.

If you're in Mickey's Mates and meet a charming girl from England named Nicola, PLEASE tell her Kate and Brett from the April 3 sailing say HELLO.

Grendel: Thanks for the reply. Do you remember on what days they braid the hair.

Also, I see below your signature that you combined the Western with AKL. How did that go? We are doing that also. Did you stay at AKL before or after the cruise? We are staying after for four nights.

Anyone know if it's cheaper to have hair braiding done in Nasau? We saw tons of people getting their hair done. I got mine done on CC- no appointment no wait- I hand just t he crown done in cornrows for $50. It took about 40 min. Thanks so much!

My hairdresser strongly suggest NOT to have the hair braided in Nasssau due to hygeine purpose. They use the same comb on everyone.

It is safer to have it done on the ship or Castaway cay. My DD (10yrs.) always like it done on CC so she can wear it after she gets off the ship for awhile. Last time she kept her hair braided for about 3 weeks. You can shampooed in the braids gently.

My DD's got their hair braided in Nassau. One got half her head, $40, and the other her whole head, $80. You need to haggle with them in Nassau, don't pay the asking price. I had half my head braided on CC. It costs $2 a cornrow, $1 a braid. My braids were nicer than my DD's, and I took them out about 3 weeks later. I could have left them in longer, they still looked very good. I needed no appointment on CC, just walked up.

As far as hygiene in Nassau, my solution to this was to take my own comb and my own rubberbands. I bought the comb with the pick on the end of it. The woman had no problem using it.

When I cruised the Wonder, they weren't doing braids on the ship. This could also be a solution if you can't get the times you want.

I dont remeber all of the days that they did hairbraiding ..I know the days at sea for sure...and I thought the KeyWest day had hairbraiding....but i didnt notice what other days besides those.

AKL was great. We did it before our cruise and it was a great opportunity to check out another resort besides Beach Club( which I love ). If you check out my trip report I talk about our AKL experiences. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=563631

But if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
