Here goes my first attempt at a Pre-Trip/Trip report. Based on the response from my previous post it was long overdue!!! : )

So the details:

We (wife,son:2-1/2, and our 2 four legged daughters(Boston terriers) are set to leave next Thursday the 9th. This will be our first Disney trip and hopefully just the first of many. We love to camp(If you call camping in a RV camping) and rarely leave behind the dogs when we camp, they might as well be children to us.

The Plan:
April 9th-League City,TX: Plan is to leave around 6pm, this also allows us to travel through the night while our son sleeps making traveling a little smoother.

10th-11th-Destin,FL: Arrive at RV park early am in Destin(meeting some of my family there down from Michigan. They will be there a few days before we get there so we will only be overlapping our vacations one day.)

12th-Destin/Fort:We will leave Destin pretty early and plan to arrive at the Fort around 12pm or so.

12th-17th-Fort/Disney days.

I don't have any pics yet except for a couple of the start of my wife's pile of "to load" items near the front door. This pile will certainly grow(Past experience!!!!)

This weekend will be a major loading/prep weekend so I will get a few more pics then.

We just went for a short trip this past weekend so RV should be ready to go. Will do the usual checks. It does however need to be cleaned.... I am sure that is on my wife's ever growing to do list.

Updates to follow....

There is plenty to go around in addition to the ones in the rack... I actually don't drink coffee but my wife does, although not every day so there is always plenty of extra coffee sitting around.

Would love to see some pics of your RV when you start packing! Where are you staying at in Destin? If you are going to Camp Gulf I would love for your trip report to include some pics of the campground, we are going there for a week in July and haven't been there before. We've been to Destin once and stayed at Topsail State Park.

I will definitely get some pics of the RV this weekend once the packing begins. We are staying at Destin RV Beach Resort(362 Miramar Beach Dr). I had not even noticed Camp Gulf until you mentioned it. Seems like a great place to camp. My plan was to get a few pics of the one we are going to be in as well as a short review.

I need to borrow a napping chair while you're gone.

Yes, some pics of your rig and campground in Destin would be great.

Well tiggerdad I am looking for someone to feed my fish while we are gone(normal neighbor unavailable) so if you would like to fill in then the napping chairs will be all yours!!!

My parents have 4 of them in their living room, so dangerous, especially on a day like Thanksgiving.

Hailtothevictors, guessing you are not an Alabama Tide fan when it comes to college football ??

Those chairs are dangerous. PaHunter you are correct I am not a Alabama fan. I do respect the program and really have only 1 school I despise when it comes to college football "Those nuts in Ohio....".
Fortunately we finally have a coach to shift the TIDE back where it belongs to the Maize and Blue!!!

It will be a "successful" season if the Maize and Blue beat the Buckeyes. Hope they have a better season than that. Would like to win the Big 10 again and dominate.

AS MSU Alumni...glad to see you don't hate on "little brother" ;) Joining in for the TR! :bored:

H2Victors,
Great start on the TR.

You will like Destin if you haven't been. It is still their off season, so it should be quiet.

Ruthies,
I've been to Camping on the Gulf several times. It is great as long as you don't mind being in pretty tight. The Beach front sites are very fun, except the price of them makes the Fort feel like a bargain.

I'll dig up some pics and send them to you.

Okay, me and my little buddy are ready to settle in and follow along....

Thank you. First time to Destin but have been to a couple other spots along that coast.

My Cousin is married to an MSU grad, he went to Central. Unfortunately the last few years we have been the "little brother". Soon to be corrected. I do root for BIG teams in general... all but 1 of course.

Not much else to report today. Started ironing out a few more details of what we are going to do in Destin... which is not much other than relaxing.... although 2-1/2 yr old does not allow too much relaxing these days.

We requested the 300 Loop at the Fort seems we have our Bostons with us. I know that location is not guaranteed so we will see how that goes.

Plan tomorrow is to pick up a couple RV items I need:

1. A 4' section of hose to replace the inside sink hose. We have battled this pesky leak for about a year that is usually fixed by merely tightening the fitting. What is happening is when the slide goes out it pulls on the hose and loosens the fitting. Had the hose been about 4"longer this problem would not occur. Anyways finally getting around to permanently fixing that problem.

2. Windshield wipers. Last time we were out it rained on the way back and realized we were overdue for wipers.

If I get a chance I may go to the RV and unload a few items that we were going to unload later this weekend. We will see how the day goes as the kiddo will be with me all day.

Great start to the pre-trip report. Will be following along also.

Destin is a beautiful place with the nice white sand beaches and the the boardwalks. We got back from Destin a few weeks ago, we where there during Spring Break but it wasn't as bad as we thought. Have a great time. Here is a pic that I took when there in March.

This boardwalk cost 2.00 per person but you can come back anytime during the day that you pay. You can also fish from it, the cost is 7.50 per person.

I am not sure we will get any fishing in while there but the Boardwalk looks like a good option. Thank you for the information.

Well I forgot to get any pics while we had everything open today while loading but I did snap a couple when we started washing.

This is the best tool for drying an RV...

All finished and back in its cave...

Today we loaded most of the packed items as well as replenished some of the supplies. Tomorrow I have a couple of maintenance items to do and finished cleaning the inside. We got a little behind today with an Easter egg hunt for the kiddo sandwiched in the middle of the day.

That place where you are storing it, they provide you with location to wash the RV too? Just curious, don't have anything like that around here. Looks like they got a good setup.

I never thought of using the blower to dry the camper before, I do take it with me (the electric one) camping to keep my sites cleaned off.
