Had to truncate trip - chances of waitlist on Memorial Day weekend?

We had a trip scheduled for seven nights in a 2-bdrm GF Lake View villa, Saturday-to-Saturday. Turns out that my daughter has a ballet recital the same day as our planned day of arrival at WDW. So that day is out.

I tried to keep the duration of the trip unchanged and just "shift" the trip ahead by one day so it would become a Sunday-to-Sunday instead. However, there was no availability for that Sunday at the end.

We didn't want to change resorts or views, so our seven-night trip had to become a six-night trip. However, I wait-listed for that extra night at the end, so it's possible the trip could become a seven-nighter again. My big concern is that the weekend at the end is Memorial Day weekend.

Naturally, I am now wondering what my chances are that that wait-list request will come through. I know it is probably just one of those "impossible to predict" things, but I know some folks here have a better bead on booking trends, cancellations, wait-lists, etc.

Any insight or educated guesses on my chances this extra day will come through? Looking for a thread of hope here.

Are you driving so that you have flexibility? I wouldn't count on it. GF is very popular and books far out. But if you are driving you have nothing to lose. Your best chance will be as you get close to that 31 day mark.

Driving, yes. I once had a similar situation over at Beach Club and the waitlist actually came through. But GF is a whole different story, I know. I just hate not knowing either way.
