last night. I've been concerned that I have over done my budget with this FTP. The long and short of it was I found another flight I wanted to take, was told there was no price difference, however after she look at it again, yes...there was going to be another $60 charge. I said "don't do it", but it was too late...and the change was made, then please change it back; sorry but you orginial flight has now gone up too. No that won't do..."can I talk to your manager". Fine, he fixes everything, great! However I've been on the phone now for over 45 min, and I more than likely incurred a $15.00 phone bill.

So now I'm over this whole trip thing...I'm going to check with hubby again, just to be sure, but I think we are now going to drive, and downgrade my hotel to PO-R from WL.

This trip is just taking too much of my time and energy. I just wanted a simple vacation.

I feel your pain. Take a deep breath and just remember you are going to WDW.

Some of us totally thrive on the planning thing--I enjoy it almost as much as the actual vacation. Others don't want to deal with the details. May I make a suggestion for the future? Consider using Dreams Unlimited. You can be as involved as you want (or not) in the details, but your DU Agent will deal with all the headaches and act as your liaison with WDW--for no additional cost. I am using them for the first time for our November trip and would never go back to doing it all alone (and I have a Travel Agent certificate!).

You might consider getting a quote from DU for the upcoming trip you have planned--explain the problems and see if they can help.

Good luck and have fun!

The complexity and headaches are part of trying to get the best deal possible. I'd suggest going back to the basics. How much can you afford to spend on the trip? Then make a list of costs such as airfare, hotel, tickets, ground transportation, food, etc. Give each item an estimated cost, add them all up and compare what you're going to spend vs what you can afford to spend. If you're within budget, fine. Otherwise, start trimming by eliminating airfares, downgrading hotels, etc.

IMO - the moderate resorts are fine and if you can save a few $$ by switching from WL, then do so. As for airfare vs drive, I don't know where you live. As for me, I don't like to drive massively long distances so I fly!

Don't stress too much and don't overplan. I've found that flexibility leads to a much more enjoyable experience.

I am really fine with my choices now. By dropping the airfare, (it's a 10 hr. drive, but we have a nice car that rides well, and I like the idea of having my car,) and switching to PO-R, I saved us over $1,100! That puts everything back in line for me...I'm Happy, Healthy, and going to Disney World!!!!!!

You did the right thing! I cut my trip back for next week by a few days, my whole family is WDW crazy so it's hard to get off the ride sometimes.

Have Fun POR is great!!:D

I had paid my $200 deposit, but I have until the 23rd of July before things are set in stone. Anyway, no penalties, and Bradley, I think that was his name, was very nice and offered a lot of help.

(And he didn't put me on hold a dozen times, which had happened with the woman I talked to the night before!)

I thought when you booked a package with air, a deposit of 200.00 plus the price of the airfare must be received at time of booking. And then change and/or cancellation could incur up to 100.00 fee per ticket. ~~

Wow...only a 10 hour drive! We drive way over that for our first leg, before stopping to spend the night!!!

I'd for sure not fly considering you're not saving ALL that much time by flying. Figure, you have to drive TO the airport, check in, etc,...then when you land you have to get your luggage, get to the resort, etc. I'm sure the whole flying experience from the time you leave your house until you arrive at the resort is at least 4-5 hours. So...why not save all that money and drive! (And spend the extra $$ at Disney!)
