We had a wonderful time for 6 nights/7 days at DLR. Our first 2 nights we stayed at the HOJO (we stayed there once before), and here's my review.

ROOM - We had room 1613 which was very nice and comfortable for our family of four. I like the new bedspreads much better than the old ones!:thumbsup2 The beds were comfortable too, but some of the pillows were kinda hard. We gave the hard pillows to the kids to sleep on.....they're young and can take it.:goodvibes We were in bldg 1 (the large tower) on the 6th floor with a lovely themepark view and we could also see a bit of the pool area.

The room was spotless (not a spec of dust or stray hair to be found, not a crumb under the beds. :thumbsup2 ), except.....there was mildew on the highest row of tiles and ceiling in the shower area and the highest row of tiles all around the bathroom. Also the shower head had quite a bit of hard water stains. There was also a small blood stain on the underside of one of our bedspreads. None of this was that big of a deal, but it tells me that it's time the room was detailed.

Also, the toilet in our room needs to be replaced. At some point the lid to the tank was probably broken, and they replaced it with a tank lid the DOES NOT fit the tank. It looks completely tacky, crude, and kind of nasty really.

POOL - All I can say is that the HOJO pools are GREAT! They're well maintained and just a cheerful and pleasant place to spend a hot afternoon! I really feel they have the nicest pools of all the good neighbor hotels/motels. If only they would get a slide, then we'd always stay there!!!

CUSTOMER SERVICE - Everyone we encountered was very nice and helpful. WE were a very early check-in (10:00 am), and our room wasn't ready until about 4:00pm, but it was no problem. We went to DL for awhile, came back to the hotel around 3:00pm to see if our room was ready so we could change and go swimming (it was HOT and we needed to cool down). Well our room wasn't ready, but the desk staff let us get our swimsuits out of our luggage (they were holding our bags for us in a locked room), and then directed us to some nice bathrooms in bldg 1 so we could change. It worked out fine and we had a great time.

Also our toilet was flushing very slowly, so we called for a plunger and within about 10 minutes someone was there with a plunger and fixed the toilet. That's fast service if you ask me!

WISH LIST - pool slide of any kind would be soooooooo great (of course ;) ), microwaves in the rooms, complimentary continental breakfast.

Hey....I saw DangerMouse's Limo in the pic of the "pool from the room".....obviously on it's way to GCH Concierge for the week.

:lmao:

HOJOs looked great! Thanks for the review, DisneySuperMom. :)

Here's a few more pictures.

Hard water stains on shower head (sorry, it's VERY blurry, but you can kind of make it out.)

Again, not that big of a deal, but ya know......it should be taken care of.:rolleyes1

We just got back from Disneyland and stayed at the HoJo. My overall experience with the HoJo was good but..... we had the unfortunate luck of having a room with ants! And the ants got into our breakfast items which was so frustrating since I was trying to save money by eating breakfast in our room. The location of the hotel was perfect and the room is quite large, but the bug problem just put a damper on my stay.

Wow Hound, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were stalking me. ;) But you are wrong! My limo was actually on its way to pick me up from Club 33! :snooty:

Hey, if you're gonna dream, dream BIG!

Thanks for sharing! LOL! I have to laugh though at the first picture of your room. On the TV screen it looks like some guy with a horrible mullet trying to hide behind something. It just made me laugh. I am still trying to figure out whats on the screen.

LOL - I don't remember what was on the TV at the time I took the picture. It was the Disney channel, and there's some girl with a guy walking in front of her. That's all I can make out.

Thanks for the pictures!! We will be staying at HoJo's in a couple of weeks and it's nice to get a sneak peak before we get there... ;) Did you request your view room ahead of time or did you just get lucky? When I made our reservations, I asked for a view of DL, but who knows if we will get one..

When I booked our room, I specifically booked a "premium room w/theme park view". But you never know, you might get lucky!:thumbsup2

We also stayed at the HoJo at the end of October.

Here is the view of the swimming pool from room 1603 (sixth floor):

Room 1603 is on the southwest corner of Building 1, and it's one room from the corner.

The view of the Matterhorn from 1603 is mostly blocked by the tall trees that are within DL:

We thought the pillows were just fine, and the bathroom in Room 1603 was extremely clean.

I have two minor complaints:

1) A little highway noise. The highway gave off a continual "white noise" that we could hear in our room (with the balcony door fully closed). I would definitely stay at the HoJo again, but I wonder if some rooms might be a bit quieter.

2) If you stayed in Room 1603 it would be better to watch the fireworks from the swimming pool and jacuzzi, as the view of the fireworks from Room 1603 was completely blocked by the HoJo's trees. If I stayed there again, I doubt that I would pay extra for the "theme park view."

We had an excellent stay, and the staff was very helpful.

Thanks so much for these reviews and photos! We are staying at Hojo's next week for the first time, so it was nice to have a preview. We didn't book theme park views, but I did request building 1.

S.S. Columbia - that's weird because we didn't hear any traffic or highway noise (white noise) in our room. However the last time we stayed there, we were on the top floor of bldg 1, a themepark view room with the vaulted ceilings and windows on both ends, and OMG the highway buzz at night almost drove me nuts. I had to leave on the TV at night to drown out the highway noise. I'm a country girl though, so maybe that's why.:goodvibes

Some of our pillows were nice and soft, but a few others were just HARD and had no give or softness when you put your head on them. Maybe they were new and that's why they were so hard.:confused3

But the mildew, hard water stains, and toilet tank lid thing in the bathroom was just......well, a little ewwwww.

I stayed in that room in May, 1613. DSIL, her mom, and my nieces were in room 1615. I cant say that Im a fan of their pillows. Soft, but as soon as you lay down they go flat and disappear.:confused3
Room 1613 was better than 1511, the room we had last month (my friend that was there the week before us had that same room).

I guess that's why we had some hard pillows.....they replaced the soft/flat pillows with new ones!:lmao:

:ssst: Psst. . . the quiet rooms are in Building 2. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info and the pictures. We will be staying at HOJO for our trip next month, and we took Dangermouse advice and we are staying in building 2. Alittle cheaper and less noise!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews...we are doing our first DL trip next summer and HoJo was the hotel I was looking at so this thread has been helpful!
