I'm quite excited. Despite the cold and the rain here in Arizona today, the garage sale we did this morning with our friends was quite successful and we made $110 towards our Disneyland vacation fund!

That's good to hear! We are planning on having a back yard sale in early June. All that we make will go towards the trip, my cousin is doing it too since we are trying to go together. Need to save for gas money to get there and back, have most everyhing else paid for! It feels good to get rid of stuff too! Have fun on your trip.

Great job! I saved all the tips from my seasonal job and have been selling on Ebay, might have to try a yard sale to come up with the rest of what I guesstimate we'll need. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm pleased with how much of our junk we sold. It probably helped that my DH stayed at home w/our 2 kids, so he wasn't there to argue that my prices were too low. ;) It was a fun morning. My friend's DH tended to just sit there and not say anything to the 'customers.' I thought, "Heck, I want to sell my stuff so I don't have to bring it back home!" so I said good morning to everybody and would walk up to the person and start talking to them if they were showing interest in an item.

It worked out pretty well. This time next year, we'll probably be ready for another garage sale because ODD & YDD will be a bit older...we'll be ready at that point to sell our pack & play, a bunch of toys that the girls will have grown out of, stuff like that.

It was interesting to see what people were interested in. One guy bought my old Tivo box for the hard drive in it. He was missing several teeth. Then there were several non-english-speaking families who would drive up at times with minivans & attached trailers. They were the serious bargain shoppers and I sold a lot of stuff to them.

Later in the morning were people looking for jewelry and random things like buttons. One lady had a necklace made of buttons all strung on a string around her neck.

We are also having a garage sale at the end of the month, and I can't wait!! First of all, it will give us extra $$ for our trip to DL next month, 2nd, it will clear some clutter from our home, and 3rd and last, I will donate leftovers to charity so that it will be a win win!

How cool! I love turning used items into $$$ for Disney trips! Through Ebay alone, I've already got about half of what I need for my December trip :woohoo:

I am right there with ya! Our yard sale will be here in just a few weeks (the weekend after Easter), and I can't wait! I hate all the work that goes into the yard sale (pricing, sorting, etc.) but I love the end result (money :thumbsup2)... and my husband really loves that I am getting rid of all the junk that has been sitting in his garage for the past few months! :lmao:

It has been an interesting few months (money-wise). Our dryer went out, so I went to the local place to buy one since they offer free delivery and I could get it immediately. I ended up getting a deal on a washer as well, so we replaced both. Went home, and I am not even kidding you- maybe 10 minutes before the delivery guys showed up my fridge died! :faint:  It has done that twice now and since it was so expensive to fix, DH just said to go back to the store to go buy a new fridge (after he looked at and determined he couldn't fix it). No more than two weeks later - the motor in my dishwasher goes out! Aagghhhh!! So... needless to say- most of our tax return went towards 4 new appliances (and their parts) in less than two weeks! :headache:
