H1N1 on "60 Minutes" - Do I even want to watch this??

"60 Minutes" is coming on now (a little late because football running late)... they just showed a 15 yr old young man fighting for his life because of N1H1; all I can think of is my own sons, and how scared this kid's family must be. Not to mention all of the kids/young adults who've already died from it.

I try hard to NOT be an alarmist, and I like to be well-informed... I'm upset just after seeing the preview. But I feel like I need to watch this.

Anyone else out there with kids and/or young adults, and hoping they get the vaccine in time??

We are waiting - very impatiently, I will admit - for the SHOT to become available for all of us - including my 11 yr. old DGD..

Ugh, I'm petrified. DD13 has no insurance at this point, neither does DH, so I'm going to bend over backwards to try to get her a flu shot.

She's actually sick right now; she has weakness and lots of stuff filling her head... I'm praying REALLY hard that it's just a cold

I hope your DD only has a cold DS18 was sick last week and for a couple of days I was very concerned, but it turns out it was "only" a bad cold with sore throat.

That's what I've heard too, that the way this flu vaccine is prepared is similar to the usual seasonal flu vaccine. DS21 (who has asthma) and DS18 have been getting seasonal flu vaccines every year for at least the last 10 years or so.

I wonder when the H1N1 vaccine will be available here. I'll be making some phone calls tomorrow to see if I can find anything out.

This is an interesting graph from the CDC site about flu information in Minnesota-it shows the onset of the flu-it has to be all H1N1 as there are no confirmed cases of seasonal flu in MN yet. Look at how fast it hit!
