Hello all,
My husband and I are going on our first anniversary cruise this upcoming summer. I am trying to find a nice gift to get for him that isn't an excursion...I'm anxious to book anything without him knowing in fear that he won't like it or I won't be able to surprise him with it (which I'd really like to do!) I looked at the stateroom gifts offered online, and they all seem a little too....girly? Are there any suggestions?

Maybe a couples massage?

On our first cruise I surprised my hubby with the romance for two package and the beer mug. He loved both :thumbsup2

There are a variety of alcohol tastings (whiskey, martini, beer, wine &chocolate) that you can book onboard. I've always found them enjoyable and even educational!
That's a great idea! Any idea where I should go to fins more information (where, when, how much)?

For Valentine's Day he surprised me by buying the Couples Swedish Massage for the upcoming cruise! I was EXTREMELY surprised since he is absolutely NOT a big endorser of strangers touching him haha. :) I did just look into the beer mug. Seems like a much better investment than the beer package which he got last time...he got a 6 pack of Corona and a 6 pack of Heineken and we ended up leaving 7 beers there!

I love getting a hot towel shave on board, it's something I'll never purchase for myself but love them

Have you found your cruise meet thread in the cruise meet forum on here? Often someone arranges Mixology or Whiskey events prior to your sailing and you can sign up. Otherwise, you'll want to enquire once you board and sign up then.

I strongly recommend booking him one of the men's spa packages that include a shave and facial (and possibly a haircut).

Some guys may think a spa treatment is too 'girly' but the men's packages on DCL are awesome and I think he will enjoy them.

Reasons I love the boards...I've cruised twice in the last year and didn't realize they offer men's packages. Thanks John! Have got 2 more cruises scheduled this year, will have to try those!

I'll second the recommendations for the Spa. My wife and I have done a couples massage twice and really enjoyed it. We've each also done individual massages on board ship and those are great too. It kind of depends on just how comfortable you are with each other.

As to the suggestion by @WebmasterJohn for a shave and possible haircut as part of the spa treatment, this is also a great idea. I've done the facial/shave treatment on board a couple of times and its fun. Plan it for the day that you are doing Palo Dinner - you are doing Palo Dinner, aren't you? - so that he looks and feels his best that night.

I would have to agree with the alcohol and chocolate tasting, DH and I just did it on the Dream in January. DH really enjoyed it. We booked it at the front desk as soon as we boarded the ship, but they had plenty of people walk in and join on the day of. It was on our sea day and was $35pp.
