Gum Popping and other annoying habits

I can't stand it when people end their sentences with the words

"You see what I'm saying?" What's really funny is my husband and my best friend do it all the time. It just always sounds to me like people are trying to get you to agree with what they are saying to reassure themselves. It drives me nuts.

i will admit it "i THE HAT, am a gum smacker" there that is the first step right?!!?

Any repetitive or nervous habit that makes noise drives me barking nuts.

Knuckle cracking does it for me. DS17 has this annoying habit, and I just about want to kick him under the table at dinner. He can also 'crack' his knees, ankles, toes..........yuck

I work with a guy who tells the same stories every day to whomever he comes in contact with. I heard a story about having to scrape ice off his windshield 3 times on the way to work yesterday approximately 27 times. My reply the FIRST time I heard it? "Maybe you should get your defroster fixed." I didn't really think it was newsworthy enough to repeat over and over again to anyone who would listen.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I also work with one of these...I hear the same stories day in and day out, year after year. I told one of my other co-workers just last week that I fee like I am living the movie "Groundhog Day" - without the funny parts :lmao: :lmao:

I have a couple of co-workers that like to

Crack their necks
and
Crack their hips

I can't stand the sound nor the movements associated with neck and hip cracking!
Foul!

Another thing that makes me go crazy is when people ask a question of you, but begin by saying airly, "Question." Then pausing to see if you consent. Arrgh! Usually it's followed by a "question" that makes them look smart or you ignorant.

I would almost, almost rather have someone smoke around me then chew gum. Gum just grosses me out to no end. And the same with sunflower seeds. ICK.

i am really going to need to work on my gum smacking addiction now...it has caused me to be tagged, lol!!!

dh won't mind, he hates gum....me i buy 2 cases of it every month at sam's club. (sugar free of course...plus the less sugar the better the smack)

now knuckle cracking that gives me shivers...right up there with the fork scrapped across the plate.
and cig smoke is instant headache for me.
dh is a fidgeter that drives me nuts as well but, i guess it is "touche" to me cause i do my smacking that bugs others as well.

i guess i should say happy nervous habit day to all, :teeth:

I have co-workers that are always working. Their incessant typing and working drives me nuts! Nothing but clicking keyboards!

Yeah,:crazy2: but it's worse when it's their toenails. A friend told me that her boss would take off his shoes and socks and clip his toenails while she was in his office. GROSS!!!!!

I have been on a morning trains where people are doing everything from shaving to clipping their toenails...its VILE!! I once saw a woman take panty hose out of her pocketbook and put them on (she had a dress on) while sitting in a seat in between to 2 other people that she was not with...its bizzare what people do out there!

Nail bitting in front of me drives me crazy. :wave2:

I can't stand it when people make repetitive noises like sniffling or clearing thier throats....drives me batty~!!
My brother also has this habit of shaking his leg when he is concentrating or something,,, drives me nuts! (although it is a short trip!!!) :rotfl:

I'm a joint popper. I pop my fingers, toes, neck, elbow, and whatever else feels like it needs to pop. Maybe my coworkers crunch their ice because I pop my joints. Hmmmm.....

The only thing that really really totally freaks me out is someone blowing their nose in a restaurant. I can't tell you how many times I'm in a restaurant, from a dinner to a nice restaurant and someone by me and many times several people feel the urge to blow their nose. So unbelievably gross!

I can't stand that either!! I can NOT believe that people don't excuse themselves and go into the bathroom when they feel the urge to blow their nose in a restaurant!! It totally can ruin a meal for me when someone at the table across or next to me does that, its just disgusting! My uncle always gets out a toothpick and picks his teeth with it after a meal...another disgusting thing..go into the bathroom if you want to do that too LOL!!

One of men in my office sucks his teeth after eating. Not to bad when he is sitting in another office. Not only that he thinks nothing of talking to someone on the phone while he is eating. I dread when he goes out to lunch and comes back. I get to listen to at least an hour of him sucking his teeth.

I totally agree with you, I have a coworker who not only sucks her teeth,
but eats w/her mouth wide open - I can tell when she begins eating - and when she ends! That's when she begins sucking her damn teeth and more additional smacking!!!!

Then my other coworker pops/cracks chews gum w/her mouth wide open - to the point that it even smells up the office!!!! Then to make matters worse - after every phone conversation she has she SLAMS DOWN the receiver! To the point I literally jump out of my skin!

I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry it took me so long to respond back to this thread. I am severely anemic, so anemic they called me malnourished.

I cannot function without my ice.

I've heard of Pica, I can't believe people eat dirt, clay, feces and what not. SIck!

I figured up in my head how much water that is... You're eating (drinking/ingesting) 8 lbs of ice, right? That's *16* glasses of water or 2 gallons!
wow.
I can barely remember to drink enough water. Never mind the fact that I rarely if ever drink the recommended 8 glasses a day, though I am doing better recently since we bought some Propel from Costco and some SoBe Lean drinks on sale.

agnes!

wow, good for me, 2 gallons.

I guess that's why I am never thirsty, with the exception of vacation, then I get dehydrated because I don't have any ice.
