Guilt and the Guilty Pleasure – A Single Mom’s April 2011 PTR for a Surprise Birthday

OH man, Erin, were going to miss each other by a week!! I wrestled for a long time about having to cancel/make different plans. I know how you feel girly. I know October seems like a lifetime away, but it will come before you know!:thumbsup2

 I already popped over to subscribe to the new PTR but wanted to say that I've been wondering where you were! I can see that lots has been going on. I'm glad you were able to reschedule your trip and didn't have to cancel all together. :goodvibes

I think its great that you are pushing to do what's right for your son. I had to push to have Jace tested when he was in PS. They kept saying he was too young but since I taught at the school I finally convinced them. Years later they now test kindergarteners on a regular basis but he was the first one. Unfortunately for us the TAG program wasn't enough for him (not because he's that brilliant but because the program was lacking, lol) and its part of the reason we homeschool now. I know that isn't a possibility for everyone but I suggest the book Guerrilla Learning to help you figure out how to help him. I'm not going to lie- it isn't a conventional book and will offer advice for you to not care about grades as much as encouraging his pursuit of knowledge that he's passionate about. It's basically a guide for sending your kids to school but keeping a homeschooling attitude (which is that school is a tool, not the whole of learning and definately not the master of life). I know it isn't for everyone but I found it extremely helpful. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for the support, Hope. I read the description of that book and it looked interesting, so I ordered it. Hopefully it’ll be here by tomorrow so I can do some reading over the weekend. It may not be conventional, but I’m not really a conventional type of gal :lmao: so hopefully this will be something that will help him. :goodvibes

Hey Erin.....

I'm at work now so I can't stay on long, but I'm going to read your post and respond a bit later. We are all here for you, you must know that!!!

Ann, you are always so supportive. Thank you for that! And I’m glad you jumped over to my new PTR too!

It’s too funny that we were just missing each other when we both had Spring trips planned and now that we both have Fall trips planned we are STILL just missing each other! :rotfl: I have to catch up on you PTR and wedding planning – a lot happens on the DIS when you don’t read PTRs for a few weeks! Whew! Anyway, see you over on my new PTR later! And you’re right, October is right around the corner :cool1:

Hi, All! Today is the day that we would've been leaving on this trip, so I thought it would be fitting to officially end this PTR today. Most of you have already followed me to my new PTR for October - Thanks so much! If you haven't had a chance yet, please come on by! Lurkers too! I know you're out there! I lurk on a few PTRs and TRs myself :rotfl: So come on by and lurk on my new PTR too! I think we're having lots of fun over there already - and I have quite a few big decisions to make within the next couple of weeks. Click on the link in my signature and pop on over! Thanks again, guys, for following me through all of the fun in planning! This isn't a "goodbye" but a "See ya real soon!" :goodvibes
