Guided Fishing on Bay Lake vs Fishing Off The Banks

Aside from the obvious price differences, how are the guided fishing excursions? Do they put you onto decent fishing spots? Any "biguns"? Which ones seem to have the better fishing? Earlier in the morning or later?

Biggest bass I ever caught was 9lbs from boat and Frank caught an 8lb bass. I'd say biggest bass from banks was 2-3lbs.

Bay lake is pretty sizable....you wont do bad from the banks early mornings OR late afternoons....but if you have the extra coin.....the excursions MUST be awesome. The otherside of Discovery Island just looks like a friggen breeding ground for the bigguns...and is rarely disturbed by people, so....if you got it($)....go for it(><">)!!!

I have taken a pontoon boat out a couple of times and tried to do some exploring but them dern Boston Whalers are too fast and the eagle eyes driving them don't miss much as you get close to the forbidden zones. I was thinking over on the east side on that little bay by the old wilderness trail and the canal discharge might be a spot for some nice-uns. Too bad they wouldn't let you go out on a boat fishing on your own.

If I could afford $$ it, I would do the Excursions every time,

When the Disney Play Packages use to be affordable,,we use to purchase that package,,we used it to do the Fishing Excursion all day,,only took a break to eat lunch. IT WAS FRIGGN AWESOME !

You guys have any thoughts on the 10AM guided trip? I'm worried that it's too late (and in late July, TOO HOT), but we'll be out late the night before, so the 7AM trip isn't in the cards.
