Guide for the New Gift Giving

Hi,

I have tested around with these the past 30 minutes and I think I figured most of it out.

Where to buy a gift-
Under Emporium Specials is where you will find the current present(s) on sale.

Red Surprise Present: 500 credits

How to set a greeting-
Each present takes up 1 space in your inventory almost like a teleporter and a magic pin. Choose a present and place it in your guest room. Double click the present.

Now there will be four different layout options:

1. Donald Card
2. Mickey Card
3. Holiday Card 1
4. Holiday Card 2

Now choose click on one of the bullets on the bottom. Once the bullet is highlighted (next to the one you want) it should show up as that layout background.

Take your cursor and highlight the word "Gift" and press backspace to delete it. Now add your own titile.

Take your cursor and highlight the words "Gift text" and press backspace to delete it.

Now you are free to type in your own greeting. Once you have your greeting and title typed in press OK.

REMINDER: You cannot go back and edit the present at all!

What happens after I set the layout?-
You are now free to trade it, place it in someones room, put it as a quest prize, etc.

How do I know who it is from?-
If you read the top of the message it will show who it is from and what date they typed it on.

How do I know the difference from each present in my inventory?-
If you double click the present directly in your inventory the greeting should come up.

Now you know what the greeting is when you place it in someone's guest room.

How do I know the greeting when I am in a trade?-
Click once on a present in your trade window. A new button will appear under the info about the item on the right side of the trade window.

You can press the button to see the greeting before you trade it to another VMK player.

What happens when I place it in someone else's room?-
If you place it in someone else's Guest Room it becomes theirs. You need to know which present you are placing (double click it to see the message before placing). Once it is placed in the other players guest room you can no longer have control of the item. You cannot pick it up, move it, or rotate it. If you place it down in the wrong room you might be lucky enough to ask the person for it back. They can then trade you it back.

TRADER BEWARE

If you are trading for 1 of these you cannot see if it has already been used or the card filled out. I already messed up my 1st one I bought. It now says "gift text" on it forever.

You are better off buying these items yourself from the stores, or at least know your trading partner very well. And if you mess 1 up and trade it away, it will always have your title on it(so vmk can track you down).

this info is not entirely accurate.

I dont know about the donald, it seems odd that they didnt do them both at the same time with so little time left before Christmas. Not sure what to make of that. I am personally waiting to see if it comes along with any new Friday items before stocking up exclusively on Mickey presents.

I was thinking the same thing cause this avoids people going into the negative if they have to buy them them selves vs having the credits taken out.

And the Donald delay I think will be one more way to prolong the spending frenzy LOL

I think they hope we all buy up a bunch of Mickey gifts, then release the Donald so we have to play more to get more credits to buy the new one. Kinda like the gingerbread pieces.

I think another IMPORTANT point about the gifts needs to be pointed out...

When trading, if you are on the receiving end of the trade, there is NO way to know if the presents you are getting have had messages saved.
This is fine if the person giving it to you is giving it to you as a gift of course, BUT If you are actually trading for the gifts to send to someone else, be careful that they are not someones "used" gifts!
This could give all new meaning to "re-gifting" lol
Just make sure you are trading with someone you know and trust!

Totally! I tried it tonight with one of my friends and wow. I love it! No having to ask to trade, just drop your gift under their tree! Awesome!

I completely agree aengus, this ability to sneak in and place a gift is fantastic! Or even not sneak - but just pop it down in front of 'em!
