We have been to WDW 7 times as a family so pretty much have it down pat. However this year we're going with my SIL, BIL, DN13,DN11,DN7 who have never been. I've helped them reservations/tickets and have tried to explain park strategies to them but I have the feeling they have no idea how vast WDW is. Which guidebook would be best to get for them to read through so they can ask less vague questions. Thanks

I had never been to WDW before our honeymoon in 2000, and my DH (fiancee at the time), who had been to WDW as a child, bought the Birnbaum's book for me. I loved it. It described the parks and attractions in great detail and even gave some really good tips to remember in the parks. They update it every year. I haven't used any other WDW guidebooks, but we buy the Birnbaum book every year to get us ready and excited for our next trip. It is available at all book stores so you can take a look and see if it is what you are looking for.

Well, we like the Passporter. It has a guide book section, but also a planning section where you can keep track of your individual plans. We also enjoy the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. The 7 year old might like the Birnbaums Disney World for Kids by Kids.

Love the Unofficial Guide. Tons of helpful info, and it's not sugar-coated. Since first using it 5 years ago, we don't wait in lines, or experience horrible crowds.

I agree that the Unofficial Guide is great... TONS of info in that book including hints & tips for getting CRT Breakfast Reservations (if you want to go to that one)

I like Birnbaum's the best - especially for a newbie.
It is as uncomplicated as you can get, and UN-Complicated is better for newbies.

I like Birnbaum's the best as well. Have bought it every year since 1990. Since I've been to WDW so many times, I always have someone calling me for info, so this has been a good source to keep at my fingertips for any questions I can't readily answer. I've already got the 2006 version on order from amazon.com! ::MinnieMo

Personally I would recommend Birnbaum for all the family (lots of pictures and clear descriptions) and the Unofficial guide for the adults (lots of info to help organize and manage a WDW trip).

My thoughts exactly! For our first trip last October I bought both and they balanced each other nicely. I loved the photos in Birnbaums but loved the honest, no nonsense format in UG (especially regarding WDW resorts and dining).

We've been to WDW a few times. Each time we buy new tour books. Our two favourites are the Passporter and The Unofficial Guide.

The Passporter has pockets that let you keep your tickets, bookings, etc.... in one place. Lots of great information too.

We also have The Unofficial Guide and really like it for its detail. The website they have offers really specific info for the time you visit and the guide is written with a good sense of humour and offers suggestions for almost any situation.

We picked up the CAA/AAA guide but it was a bit disappointing as a lot was missing (the good part is it's free for members so if you're a member it's probably worth picking up --- also ask for the Orlando Map --- we went to the Florida Mall and the Millenia Mall and we're glad we had the map. I'm directionally-impaired but even my DH who has an amazing inner-compass still had to pull out the map.)

Hope you have a wonderful time...

i think the ug is best as birnbaum is a little too pro disney to me. i feel like the ug is mor unbiased. do think the pix in birnbaum are nice so maybe just for that it's good but for the facts get ug
