Hi,
New to the forums - been looking around for advice and reading trip reports to generally get excited for my trip in September. The forums have been a huge help so far!
As my title suggests, I've never been to any of the Disney resorts. My boyfriend who I'm going with went when he was 7 so his memory of the resort is limited.

I've got a couple of questions, and would be very grateful if anyone could help me in answering them:

1. Bags on Rides? Are you allowed to take them on, if not is there a place to put them safely?

2. We want to do Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show one night during our stay. We've brought the Half Board Premium vouchers as we've seen that we can exchange these for tickets for the show. I know that we'll have to sit in the second tier of seating. I'm just wondering, when we book it, do we have to state up front that we will be paying with the vouchers?

3. Blue lagoon food? From looking at the menu is all mainly fish. I personally am not a fan of fish (or spicy food at that) but my boyfriend loves it, thus why we've decided to eat there one night. Just wondering, even though I'm 22, can I arrange to choose something off the teen menu? I know its really cheeky, but what are Disney like with people needing certain food requirements?

4. Safes in rooms? We're staying at the Disney's Hotel New York, not planning on taking a few items into the park and I was wondering if there's a safe in the room to put things in. Sure the hotel is perfectly safe, just had bad experience in the past with housekeepers :]

5. (One More :D) Park hours? This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, when is the latest that you can book a table at the restaurants in the park? We want to eat in the disneyland park for dinner one evening, will we have to be out by the park hours closing time?

Really appreciate any answers that anyone can give me, like I said, i've not been before and I'm a little lost :]

Thanks :]

I'll answer best I can. :goodvibes

1. Bags on Rides?

Whenever I go I always have a small handbag, and more recently my fairly large SLR camera, however I've yet to have an issue. On seated rides there is usually room by your feet, beside you, or you can have them on your lap if there is no safety bar. For the thrill rides I just tucked them inside my jacket before the harnesses came down. I've never seen anyone leave a bag somewhere before a ride, but equally I've never seen anyone have issues with bags.

If you have a large backpack you may have issues on the thrill rides, so if you're planning on riding them then just keep that in mind and pack light while in the park.

3. Blue lagoon food?

The food at Blue Lagoon is wonderful. Last time I was there I had something along the lines of Caribbean chicken and it wasn't at all spicy, and my sister (who is a very fussy eater) had the vegetarian option and thoroughly enjoyed it. However saying that they are extremely hospitable at Blue Lagoon, and I have no doubts you could arrange something with them.

4. Safes in rooms?

All the rooms in HNY have safes, although I have heard of a few people struggling to figure them out!

5. Park hours?

From personal experience I would say don't book any later than an hour and a half to two hours before closing time. Although the restaurants are a wonderful experience, they do have a reputation for the service sometimes being a little slow. You definitely want to give yourself time to fully enjoy it without worrying about time constraints.

Good luck with your first trip! :lovestruc

Hi Jozmire,

generally speaking you can only have dinner in the park at the weekends when the main park is open until 9pm or later. If you are going in September midweek after the summer season is over, your park closing time will probably be 7pm, so I'd think the latest you could book a table to eat in the park would be around 5pm or earlier. You can call the Disney Dining reservations number 60 days before you go, to find out which restaurants are open until which time for meals during your stay. The number to call is 0033 160 304050 :).

If you have the HB Premium vouchers, you can book the BBWWS before you go - just phone up reservations, and they will convert your vouchers for BBWWS tickets, and you pick them up when you get there (that is what I've done).

Alternatively, you can leave it until you get to your hotel, then use your vouchers at the concierge desk to buy the tickets (I did this last time).

we stayed in HNY and had no problem with safe. It locks on a key. A big one I must say :D

Thank you so much for all the replies, you've all answered my questions fantastically and clearly :] Its people like you guys who are making planning this trip so much easier, Thank you all :D
