Guests at SSR!!!!

I am sooo happy right now!!!

I called yesturday thinking there would be nothing the week before christmas and was able to book at Studio at SSR for my parents dec 17-21!!!

I was so surprised there where any studios available that week in Dec!! But I called thinking it doesn't hurt to ask!!

Its my parents going, do they get the DVC perks?, like pool hoping (not sure if that is even allowed in DEC) and the discounts we get at stores, dining, tours (the discounts that are on the member website), is it the same as if we were staying there??

As guests, they aren't entitled to those kinds of perks (though pool hopping might be OK if they are with the Member and it's not a black-out period). I believe verifciation for entitlement to the extra perks is confirmed with the blue DVC member card rather than the room card.

In years past, just showing the room key was usually enough; and the key said something like "DVC Member" if the reservation was made on points, whether or not it was the Member or a guest staying there. I don't know if that still happens. At any rate, I wouldn't count on the perks.

"Discount" perks, like some shopping at DtD, dining and perhaps even tours, may be given to your folks based on their room keys. As the previous poster said, they are not actually "entitled" to them...but it never hurts to try. If they get them, great, if not, well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Friends of mine (though I was also staying at the resort, in a different room) were able to use the spa discounts at SSR and the diving tour discount at the Living Seas. Since we usually ate together and I had the DDE, they never had an opportunity to see if they could get the dining discounts.

You parents will NOT be able to get the Annual Pass discount. That is definitely for members only. Pool hopping may be restricted or eliminated during that time period for Members...and with the crowds, it probably wouldn't be a good idea, anyway.
