Disclaimer: Before you go any further, I must warn you that this is a shameless plug for the Contemporary AND a few people near & dear to my heart. It's a little wordy, too. If you're up to it, here's the story:
As many of you know, I was fortunate enough to receive a CTT from Scoop a few Sundays ago - lucky me! A week later, my hubby (YardHaunter) was awarded one at the Friday pin meet. I'm so grateful for all the congratulatory posts by everyone - it was so nice. And Malcolm was equally touched that he'd been awarded one after all this time. But I have to tell ya'll, as nice they are, they were weighing heavily on us.
You see, Malcolm & I were both keenly aware of 2 individuals that really deserved them and probably weren't ever going to be awarded the CTTs they so richly deserved. These 2 folks would often trade away their (sometimes even their highly coveted keepers) pins to get gifts to give to others. They're also notorious for giving away pins to kids and new traders wherever they went. As a result, they've each given away more than half of the pins that they've owned. They would often spend their Friday nights at the Contemporary helping new traders, playing with the kids, or entertaining the troops (literally - you should see these two do Grease hits!). They've spread positive, mushy pin karma all over the Parks and have sent more than a few guests home with warm memories of their trip to WDW.
So, all of this leads up to tonight - the Grand Opening of Disney's Friday Night Pin Meets. We waited until the opening hoopla was over & things had settled down. Then Malcom, Ed (Raul) & I called everyone to attention. I thanked Holland (who was in attendance) one last time for the opportunity to enjoy my CTT for a little while, acknowledged everyone's best wishes from here on the boards, gave everybody the story, and then...
Malcolm and I "awarded" our CTTs to our 2 oldest daughters: Crystal - 17 (oneohone) and Heather - 15 (Mermie) along with Mickey's Helping Hand awards pins for what they've done for the pin trading community at WDW. Even though they're young, they really deserve them. It was sooo great, they had no idea. You should've seen the look on their faces! I think we appropriately choked them both up, and...they did really great Happy Pin Dances!
So, hey everybody, please join me in congratulating our newest CTT recipients!!!
YEAH!!!
I, for one, am getting misty....
