My DS will be a sophomore in high school next year. He decided recently that he would like to try out for the school swimming team. He is a good swimmer, but has never done any competitive swimming in his life and he's almost 16! I was afraid that they wouldn't want to mess with him when they have kids who have been swimming in meets since elementary school.
Anyway, he went to try out at one of their practices and the whole team watched him. I was a nervous wreck, but he did great. They said there were a few things he needed to learn, but they'll work with him this spring/summer so he'll be ready in the fall. He made the team! He's so proud of himself, and I'm proud too! He starts practicing with them next Monday. Guess I'm swim meet bound.
