Guaranteed Deluxe Family OV w/ Verandah

I'm sorry if this has been asked before. This will be the first time I'm considering a Guaranteed Stateroom. I thought they used to offer just a Verandah or OV or IV, but this shows specific categories and deck. Is this the usual?

Just so I understand the one below, can I assume that I will get a 4B verandah anywhere on Deck 8?

Also, is there any possibility that I would get a 4B stateroom that doesn't have a 5th bed, even though I only have 4 in our party?

Any experience or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!

The offer you posted isn't a discounted rate. It's regular rate, but you don't get to choose your stateroom. These are offered when a certain percentage of staterooms are booked already; it allows DCL some flexibility in assigning staterooms. You are guaranteed the specific category you book (4B) or higher. You could get a stateroom without the 5th bed if only 4 guests are on the reservation.

IGT, OGT and VGT show as just "Interior Stateroom - Guaranteed with Restrictions" or something like that. These would be the discounted rooms.

So, I'm just wondering why it specifically states Deck 8 - 4B. I always want to choose my stateroom, but since this says Deck 8, I was under the impression it would be on this Deck...the other guarantee options states other decks (ie. 4C - Deck 7) and others says no decks, just category.

If we get assigned one that is higher category and don't want the stateroom, can we change it? For instance, it shows 4A on a deck that is under the pool deck (Fantasy) and as much as it would be a higher category and I'm sure people would be happy with it, I wanted a cat 4B. Do I have some leeway in changing it?

  • Category 4A: Decks 9 and 10
  • Category 4B: Deck 8
  • Category 4C: Deck 7
  • Category 4D: Deck 6
  • Category 4E: Deck 5; oversized private verandah

Since it is not a "restricted" fare, you may be able to get the room changed if you don't like the location. Reports vary as to success with such requests. Most of the time, GTY is placed into the exact category booked. I don't know the dates of this cruise, but currently DCL does seem to be shifting guests around so if it's coming up soon there is probably a decent chance you may get a 4A on deck 9 or 10.
