I was curious to know if they have the GUs at the Expo? Considering the fact that I won't be able to bring them on he plane I guess I would have to mail them down. just hoping I don't have to!!!

Actually you can bring them on the plane. I put mine in checked baggage in a zip lock. I have carried them on in my carry-on but have had to explain at times what they were.

To answer your specific question, Track Shack (the parent company of the RD) will have a large booth at the expo. Cliff does not seem to have an exclusivity clause in the agreement like the predecessor did in the earlier marathons. I recall GU and PowerBar Gels plus many other brands in the Tack Shack booth.

IIRC, I may have had mine in the carry-on for my 2008 Goofy, and did not have to explain them. I keep waiting for someone to ask about Garmie, but it never happens.

Anyway, yeah, you should be able to buy them at the expo, if nothing else.

I travel about 40% of the time for work so I have lots of TSA inspections. Gels have passed through in the bag (I forgot to remove), and in the one baggie with my personal items. The one place they will not pass through is in your pocket due to the foils. I think that I had inssues for either the 2007 training period or the 2008 period; not 100% sure which one and it may have been early in the period once we were able to carry fluids on the plane again.

I have never had my garmie questioned and actiually had it on on a few flights. On the otherhand my HR monitor strap has raised more questions than any of the three. It's shape can raise a red flag on the screen.

Someone else will probably know the answer to this, so I thought I might add on to the first question. I am not a gel person, just can't get it down, but was wondering how the flavor variety is at the expo? Just wondering if someone who might be picky about what flavors they can tolerate would find what they need at the expo or if it is better for them to bring them with them to the race.

thanks for your answers. I'll try to pack them and see what happens. They aren't that big of a package so I can't imagine having a problem.

Just came back from FL a few weeks ago and they wouldn't let my 2 jars of jam from Epcot go through. Just had me thinking there for a moment.

Thanks again!!

I've also put them in my carry on bags and they've gone unnoticed by TSA. However, the ground cinnamon and ginger that I put in my coffee each morning got me pulled aside.
