Grumpy and his wife and possibly the DIS Food Porn Queen are going to Disney

Our youngest, Markie, has been to more places than his mom and dad combined. He left yesterday for a 23+ hour drive to Orem, Utah, where he is coaching the youth wrestlers who qualified for Nationals. He sent me this picture via his Iphone; it is him and his very good friend, Joe (Joe is four years older than him; Joe will be getting married in the next year or two--once he and his fiance find full time teaching jobs, and Markie will be his best man).

Gorgeous picture, Kathy. Hope he has a wonderful trip. I would love the chance to drive out west like that.

Oh, I'm soooooo dizzy. My stomach did a flip seeing them standing on those rocks....:scared1:. It is a great picture though.

Joe and his fiancé are doing the same thing as Amanda and her fiancé; they both want to have full time jobs before they plan their wedding.

Here are a couple of more:

Mark and Gabriella (this is Joe's little sister; she loves Markie)

(I told him he'll make a great dad some day...but there was NO RUSH whatsoever).

Awesome pix of the lake!! So clear and pretty!

I agree that finding work first is a great way to start a family. :thumbsup2

I hate to see you guys slammed so hard in repair bills! That really stinks that it all happened at once!

Thanks, everyone. Yes, it was a great night. We hadn't seen Sue and Louie in over 20 years and you wouldn't know it...same old great time as we always had.

I had planned on doing an update today but I've been depressed. Not only did we have to buy a new computer (ours has crashed three ties in the last six months), today our oven went out and so did our lawn mower. So after $600 for the laptop and now another $1000+ for a new stove/oven and lawn mower, if one more minute thing goes wrong, we will have to cancel the Disney portion of our trip (and to top it all off, it POURED this morning and all games were cancelled...so Mark lost another five baseball games--so far with all the rain we have had he has lost over $800 in pay).

Kathy, my word, you guys sure got hit hard in the money department! Geez, I am so sorry. NO!! Do not want to hear that you'd even have to consider cutting the Disney portion of your trip. Sending loads of ISPD!!

(My laptop is taped together and barely working - where did you find a laptop for $600 and what brand? Does it have power, OE and a nice bright screeen? Thnx!)

It's a great picture...but them being up on those rocks is a little nerve wracking for thish worrisom mom. :scared1:

Yes, I hate when everything starts going at once. Hopefully three in a row will keep us away from anymore for awhile.

I got my laptop from DELL...I don't need a lot on it so I was able to keep the price down.

Gabriella is an absolute sweetheart. I talked to Markie briefly by FB today and he said ALL of the boys won their matches through the first three rounds! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thanks, guys. Markie just called. They took nine boys. Four of them are going for third place and four are going for the National Championship. They should be starting right about now. Today is Greco-Roman style wrestling; tomorrow, they start all over again with Freestyle Wrestling.

I just can't resist answering these questions, and usually to the point of over-informing ;). At any rate, I'll try to be brief...

If you're looking at a "big box" store, my checking online is showing that Best Buy has a very good selection of some decent systems for less than $600 (with many of those less than $500). Of that less than $600 list, they're all pretty comparable.

Now, for my personal stuff, I usually use either Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com (my previous system and many of the after build pieces were from Newegg, the one I just built in March, I ordered the pieces from Tiger Direct). The prices there are a little higher in general than Best Buy, but the quality for the price is a lot better. (Ok, I just looked at the prices there, and it's pretty comparable too). Of course, both of these locations are internet based and will require shipping, whereas Best Buy may not (depending on the system ordered and your local situation).

Ok, that should do it for now ;). Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions of this nature, I'm a bit knowledgeable about these things :).

Um, and uhh, way to go Markie and crew! And other pertinent stuff that others have commented on that I don't have anything to add to :).

Signing on! I'll try to get caught up, but looks like that's gonna take a while! :surfweb: A lot of good stuff here!

Wow that is a cool pic of Markie on the rocks, that water looks crystal clear.

Sorry to hear about the household break downs, that is not fun when that happens. But like Karin says these things come in threes, so hopefully thats it (touch wood).

Kathy,

Best of luck to all of the wrestlers!

Great pictures too. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about the unwanted expenses. :sad2: That seems to happen to us as well. They all go at the same time. :sad1:

I'll respond to everyone later, but good news is we won't have to cancel the Disney part of our trip (unless the car dies or something). Our oldest son insists on giving us the money we need. He said that he told us his plan was to help us with the school loans once he was out of school. He has about $8000 put away and he doesn't touch this for his own school loans and he is buying a car (his is done -- 185,000 miles later). He said it won't hurt him to take money out of his savings so we can go. He said we deserve it and we can consider it part of his payment toward the school loans. He made me cry with the offer.

And how amazing that your son is giving you the money you need! That's fantastic! :woohoo:

How wonderful! What a sweetie!! :cheer2: Good thing will come to him for his thoughtfulness. :goodvibes

Mia did something very similar just after she graduated from college when I was planning on a pilgrimage to Fatima and Murphy's Law seem to be happening everyday. She insisted on using some of her money she saved her new car...Karma came back to her because the week I was gone she found her dream car, got fabulous financing and picked the car up the day I returned.

You've got yourself a great kid...excuse me, young man. :goodvibes

party: That is FANTASTIC news! What wonderful sons you've raised, Kathy. Please let me know your secrets. So happy for you!

That is so sweet Kathy! You should be very proud, it sounds like you have raised two very kind and thoughtful young men :goodvibes
