Grumpy and his wife and possibly the DIS Food Porn Queen are going to Disney

Wow, Kathy, I had somehow missed that you are going to request Ranchos this time. That should be interesting. I'm eager to hear your take on it, as I believe that one of the buildings is the closest you can get to the Dig Site.

Sorry about your computer...very frustrating!

Hey Kathy! Not sure if you remember me from the CSR thread last year, but I spent quite a bit of time there leading up to my Disneymoon trip =)

We're going back again this year, and since Mr. Arb was less than pleased with the conventioners partying outside our room, we decided to give POR a try this time. But I'm going to be following your PTR just so I can relive the CSR experience through you!

Now to go back and read through the 33 pages!

Yes, I thought since we did Cabanas last year that we ought to try Ranchos this year. This way we'll no for sure which section is truly our favorite. Yes I'm still using my son's laptop...I may try an update n it when no one is here bothering me every two minutes (you'd think they were 2 and 4 or something the way they are: "Mom, can you make me this; mom can you wash this"...gee, you are 24 and 22, do it yourself!).

I do remember you from last year; thank you for joining my PTR. POR is the only other moderate we would really consider (POFQ has no quiet pool and the hot tub is really tiny and the CBR just doesn't appeal to us theme wise). I'm sure you and hubby will have a great time at the POR. You'll have to give me a comparison of what you thought when you get back. When are you going?

October 11-15. Technically it's still going to be our anniversary trip, even though we got married in September. We just wanted to make sure we were there again for the Food and Wine Festival because we enjoyed it so much last year. I just wish we were able to stay longer ;)

I'm sorry we won't be there at the same time as you. (:

We're only there for four days as you can see from this PTR, but then we are going to Marco Island. We hope to get back to a week or ten day trip next year. Mark and I always celebrate our anniversary while there (and ours is in May); be sure to ask for anniversary buttons. :goodvibes

Too funny! But I have to admit that I still rely on my mom for so many things. They are so lucky to have you!

And can't wait to hear which section you like the best.

It's funny you say that. I said to Mark a couple of weeks ago that I didn't know WHY I was so tired the last 18 months. And then it dawned on me. Before my dad passed away, he used to do all of my laundry during the week, he'd have dinner ready for us when we got home from work, etc. So I guess I can't really complain about the boys.

I just checked any updates on rehabs and this is what it is currently showing:

Walt Disney: One Man's Dream - August 16 - November 2 (this is VERY disappointing to me as it is a favorite of ours). I may have to reconsider whether we even go to the Studios with the lack of what we'll be able to do.

Toy Story Mania -- August 16 - 28 (at least this will be open if we decide t go to the Studios)

Star Tours is scheduled to reopen on September 8 (Mark won't be able to ride though)

Liberty Square Riverboat - August 16 - 25 (this was closed last time we were there)

I's a Small World - August 1 - October 22

I washed the car, laid out in the yard and did laundry all day. I have to put the laundry away and if I'm not too tired I will get an update up tonight.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Okay...we're up to Wednesday, September 22 (Day 6 of our 12 day vacation).

We'll probably sleep in a little late this morning to catch up from all of our running at Disney. We'll drive here:

because by this time I have sure I will be having severe withdrawal for one of these (or two):

IMG_2880-1.jpg

(My 1/2 decaf, nonfat, wet cappucino)

Mark won't drink Starbucks anymore--he says it tastes perfuming to him; I don't recall if we found a Dunkin' Donuts last year or not, but he'll probably have juice with his breakfast (he has to eat in the morning in order to take his medications).

Since I'm not sure which nights we'll get together with Nicki and Todd yet and what day that Nicki and I are going to have a "girls" day to go shopping, for pedicures and manicures, I'll just post a few pics for each day we are in Marco and talk about some of the restaurants we went to last year.

I think this first day we'll just relax by the pool. There are two pools at the condo...one is a little smaller than the other but I like the smaller one because if you watch closely you can see the dolphins (or find a manatee like Mark did).

We'll start this day with the larger of the two pools (which is near the tennis court):

With the exception for one afternoon for an hour, we had the two pools to ourselves the entire week we were there:

(Mark is making "fishies" in the water...he did this all the time when the kids were little; I told you he NEVER grew up).

(This is the life!).

One of the restaurants we will be going to while on Marco Island is the Sand Bar. It is a sports bar with paper towels on the table for your napkins. But the food is so good. I can't remember exactly what we ate, but we both had a beer and some kind of fish with fries; Mark had key lime pie for dessert.

Can someone tell me how to update my "title"?

Great new update, Kathy! I hope you get the pool all to yourselves again - that is the way I like it too!

It's a shame about "one man's dream" being closed! That one hurts more than "small world"! I need to review my planning, since there is not all that much to do in the studios if OMD is closed as well.:sad2:

As for changing the title - click "edit", then when the window opens up go to "go advanced" and you will be able to change your title. :goodvibes

It is a shame about OMD, I was hoping that we would be able to check this out (for the first time) this year. But at least TSM will be up and running :)

Great update, an afternoon by the pool sounds fabulous, esp if you get it all to yourselves :thumbsup2

Ugh, I didn't know that OMD was going to be closed while we're there! :sad2: That's one of my favorite things to do.

I have not been on the Liberty in ages. It seems to be closed every time we go.:confused3

Joe loves Star Tours but can't ride any longer either. :sad2:

I'm really upset about iasw...I can't even think about my disappointment. :rolleyes1

Marco is going to be so relaxing! I'm jealous...........

That's too bad that One Man's Dream will be closed while you are there. :( I really like it too, we did it last year but we skipped the movie.

I thought Star Tours wasn't opening again until 2011? :confused3

I love Starbucks! It's a good thing they don't have one in WDW, because I'd be there all the time! :)

Love the pool pics, they look so relaxing! :)

Yeah, I'm really thinking of doing AK instead of the Studios. We could do the safari, Tough to be a Bug, the trails, and see a couple of the shows which we have never seen (then I could try to switch an ADR and go to Yak & Yeti. The Studios don't hold much appeal with all we can't do or that is closed. I'm going to have to think this over.

Thanks...next update I'll see if I can change my title.

I am way disappointed about OMD...it's such fun walking through all the memorabilia and then watching the film. :sad2:

I didn't know OMD would be closed either (I checked another site and they are very accurate with their rehabs). I'm really reconsidering doing the Studios.

According to the site I looked at, it said Star Tours would open September of this year...unless it was a typo. No biggie...we can't do it anyway.

I know what you mean about Starbucks. When Mark and I do a longer Disney stay, we always end up driving off site to get me at least one or two during the week. :)

Well - I can't say I am terribly disappointed about Small World being closed for refurb, :rotfl: I do like one man's dream, so I will be sorry to miss it, although I saw the movie last trip. :thumbsup2 for Star Tours refurb being over Sept 8th. Is it a major rehab. I don't even know.

Nice pool pics. Could use one of those today!

I really shouldn't do things when I am overtired. Star Tours DOES NOT reopen September 8. What the other site says is: closed for refurbishment beginning September 8.

Okay...you can all shoot me now.

Wow, OMD is closed for a long time. Wonder what they are doing to it :confused3

Your day by the pool sounds heavenly, hope you get all to yourselves again!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. You know it's been really busy around the house and work lately. I hate that there will be several refurbs going on while you're in Disney. It always sucks knowing that you'll have to miss some of your favorites.

I hope that you and Nicki and Todd get a date tied down soon so you can finalize your plans. I knowthat you had a good time visiting with Nicki last trip. Did Todd meet ya'll then too? I can't remember.

Great update, Kathy!

A day by the pool sounds wonderful, especially right now, with all the heat we have going on here at home.
