I am staying at a crappy hotel in GA. My DF has a job interview and I was awake all night unable to sleep. So when he left this morning, I put the DO NOT DISTURB thingy in the door. I was awoken at 9am by housekeeping banging on the door. I tried to ignore it hoping she would go away, but instead she kept knocking louder and saying HOUSEKEEPING. So I in my half asleep state told her to please go away I am sleeping. Then she tried to OPEN THE DOOR!!!!!! Good thing I had the chain across! She then started yelling at me about how she has a schedule to keep and I need to tell her she doesnt have to clean my room or she cant leave, and how inconsiderate I am for not answering the door when she knocked. I got cussed out by the scariest looking housekeeper I have ever seen. Great customer service.

Anyhow, I got up on the wrong side of the bed today. And I am trapped in this yucky hotel until DF comes back in the wrost mood ever. It seems like a questionable neighborhood so I am afraid to go out walking.

I called the front desk to complain, they dont really care. They said I could choose to have no housekeeping for the week if I wish to avoid this problem again. Just wait until I write this online review.

Yuck. :(. Sounds awful! Yes, I would for sure write a review on Trip Advisor or some site like it.

Is it a chain of hotels? Because if it is, I would march down to the front desk, get the name of the manager that you spoke to and let him/her know that you intent to contact corporate and will be in touch with trip adviser.

A privately owned hotel? Find out the name of the owner, let him/her/them know that you are going to be posting what happened on trip adviser.

The housekeeper had no business trying to get into your room. Why bother having the little signs then?

Not to defend the actions of the housekeeper and manager, but was the 'Do Not Disturb' sign still on the door?

On a recent trip, I put the sign on the door because we didn't want housekeeping coming in, and when I opened the door about 30 minutes later noticed that the sign was no longer there (maybe a prank).

When she tried to open the door I got scared. Plus, if I am out somewhere and put the do not disturb, it means I dont want them to come in and if I were not here, she would have been inside. The staff is shady, I am thinking i dont want them in my room at all. I am thinking of cancelling housekeeping for the remaining 2 nights. I want to check out & go somwhere else but dont want to lose what we spend on this place.

Yes it was still there, the housekeeper said she had a schedule to keep.

Gett online find LaQunitas Corp # & call it maybe you can get your money Back & go somewhere else. I have to say LaQunitas are either really great or really crappy there are no kinda ok ones.

She probably wanted to do your room, because she probably didn't want to keep checking for the sign on the door during her shift and then if you took the sign down later in the day, she would have to come back and clean it.

Disclaimer: I am no way defending her, she knows what the sign means. But up until recently I worked in the hospitality industry and I know some housekeepers had the above frame of mind.

Cancel housekeeping for the next couple days, go to the front desk and even though they are a La Quinta, they may be managed by another company so find out that as well.

Definitely complain up the chain and post your experience on tripadvisor. I've stayed in nice La Quinta's before. It may 'inconvenience' the housekeeping staff to have to come back, but to complain to the guest about it, and the lack of front desk support is poor customer service.

La Quinta. Boooooo.

Oh honey, get the manager. They are graded on the surveys done by customers. We like LaQuinta, and anytime I've had a problem with an employee it only took talking to a manager to straighten it out. They absolutely jump. The last thing they want is for a customer to go above thier head to corporate, since it comes out of thier paycheck (performance based raises and promotion) if you complain.

good luck

Like others have said, march your butt downstairs and demand to speak to a manager. If he doesn't care, let him know you're going to call up the chain and then do it! Of course, also write an honest review online.

That stinks and I am so so sorry!! I would personally cancel housekeeping for the rest of your stay just so you don't have to worry about being disturbed.

Inexcusable. I would be so angry to be disturbed like that. "Do Not Disturb" means exactly that. What part of that did the housekeeper not understand? And that the front desk didn't even care? Wow. I, too, would be writing a bad review of the hotel on Trip Advisor. They probably don't even care about that either though.

I sure bet you aren't going to leave a tip for housekeeping, are you?

If I were you, and it's a chain hotel and not a mom 'n pop type place I would be getting that housekeeper's name and writing to corporate to let them know. She has no right to treat a hotel guest the way she treated you.

couldnt agree more!

You get one or the other with LQs!

I have become a Hampton Inn snob Im afraid. They have been the most uniform in their hotels that I have stayed at. Can always count on them being clean and the staff well trained. Great breakfast too!

Not defending the housekeeper, she was definitely wrong, but we stay at a lot of hotels and DD has an illness that requires her to sleep...A LOT! Anyway, when we know that she will be napping most of the day, we call the front desk and request no housekeeping service for that day. We just ask for clean towels as needed. It has always worked for us. In your situation, I would complain to the management of the hotel. The housekeeper should not have even knocked at your door, much less tried to enter!

You sound just like me! I love Hampton Inns!
