Grrrr. Used online booking 1st time and I still have to call. NO requests?

Hi,
I always call to book reservation said waiting time was 40 min. So I decided to book online.
Even though I had to borrow points decided to go for it.

But there is no place to add a room request:sad2:
Did I miss the place to add it?
I managed to add a birthday celebration but didn't see any special request place.

So now I am on hold anyway to add a room request. Yea I know nothing guaranteed....but I have always been lucky in the past.

However....I did make a reservation for the month before for someone else in Oct(rented through Davids rental) Wondering if that would put me on the naughty list:rolleyes:
Does DVC frown on doing that?

Making reservations for other people is specifically allowed in your contract; they can't frown on that.

You can send a message to Member Services through the website with your room request. They'll confirm receipt in a couple days.
 
In terms of requests, there is an online chat feature and a way to email MS to tell them the room requests you want. This is how I do it vs. calling.
 
I always send them an email. They always respond back. It usually takes about a week.

I wound up calling anyway but CM did say what my fellow dis'ers already knew... I could have emailed or at online checkin.
I'm hoping it shows that my request was done at/near reservation time and maybe.... Earlier date would have preference?:o

Sending an email allows you to make requests that aren't on the online check in form. Current response time is still a few days but it's better than waiting on telephone hold.

Exactly -- the 'form' for room requests is part of the online check-in process.

The requests on online checkin are very general. You can be more specific by contacting member services, such as a specific building number. I always email.

Nope, it doesn't matter when you make the request. They're all processed together when the room assigner gets around to it.
 
You all just reminded me that I needed to add requests to our upcoming Easter trip. I was able to contact MS through the chat feature on the member website. Took about 5 minutes and it's done!

Do you think? I had one of my reservations changed to a 'requested handicapped room'. When I called to tell them that I did not request a handicapped room, they told me that I was the last one booking, so they stuck me with it.

Not their words, of course.

Wow....Just curious. Was this a very last minute booking?
I once had a Handicapped room at OKW only request was area close to main building...forgot actual name of area.

I booked a GV at BLT at 11 month window and ended up getting Handicap accessible room and I know I was not the last to book because GV were available still at the 7 month window. We did not mind because we "paid" for LK view and we had an awesome MK view/LK view room fireworks were great from our balcony!

I think most requests and room assignements are different issues. If they changed it online ahead, it is very likely that you were first up for the stated reason. They do now have to hold those rooms as the last to be booked.

A number of years ago they basically said that they were not going to put much effort into requests and removed the priority of when one booked. Now there's no formal system to honor requests and it varies resort by resort even person by person.

Maybe or possibly others had requests they were trying to fill. Regardless while getting a HC room can be sort of guaranteed, not getting one is simply a request or luck of the draw. I think it's good they changed it rather than when you arrived being the first time you have knowledge of it.
