We bought a brand new Buick Enclave 5 weeks ago has 3000 miles and made 1 payment and now we find out they have to replace the timing chain and the tensioners. I'm not a mechanic but I know they have to take part of engine apart to fix. We're not happy campers right now.

It is a 2010 had 250 miles on it when we got it. Drove it to disney for the rest of the 3000 miles.

Yes it was brand new as stated.

My mother bought a new Enclave about 18 months ago and took it in the dealer for some seeminly small problem (I don't know exactly what). Anyway, the dealer decided to replace the entire ENGINE under warranty. Makes you wonder what's going on there.

FWIW, she loves the car and hasn't had any other problems with it.

It will hold up a lot better with a functional timing chain! I wouldn't worry about it.

We just traded in our 2008 GMC Acadia because we recently had to replace the entire stearing shaft, something with the air conditioning and the water tank that cools the engine. All were covered under warrenty but it kinda freaked us out so we traded it in for a 2010 Honda. The Acadia and the Enclave are the same car/different body and interior features. We really loved the Acadia but when it came down to it didn't want to pay for the entended warranty and didn't want to have to pay to replace the next thing the went wrong.

A Toyota or Honda would be your best bet.
