Has the final drop on GRR always had the rafts spinning constantly? I didn't remember that at all, but maybe I just never noticed? (It's one of my favorite rides so I feel silly asking a question about it but it's been bugging me since our trip a few weeks ago & I just couldn't take it anymore!)

For the past 2-3 years it's always spun constantly. I don't remember before that, but it's my son's favorite ride. Somehow, I always end up in the seat that gets wettest (2 in from the back on the right hand side). It looks so promising until the stinkin' raft starts spinning. I really need to learn my lesson and sit on the left side.

I noticed it a few years back. I don't remember it spinning quite as much and then.....boom! spin, spin, spin! I figured they must have tweeked something on the rafts to make them spin like that.

I don't think it's purposely spun... I think it's a weight distribution plus water current.

Nope, the spin is done on purpose. There is a 'bumper' at the top of the second drop that bumps one side of the raft forcing it to spin.

You can see the bumper on the left right before the drop.

Ah-ha! I'm only a little crazy as I've definitely ridden it multiple times in the last couple years- lol! Thanks for the description & pics @Ryan120420 ! Very cool.

Since it's spinning anyway, you can help it along and make sure neither of the openings is straight down when you get down there. Helps make it not QUITE so wet-making. We have had some success with that strategy.

For the longest time I wouldn't ride GRR because of that last drop with the spin. I actually hate most drops in general and combined with the spin I thought there was no way. I was finally peer pressured onto it and was surprised how I actually wasn't bothered by either the drop or the spin. Maybe they both cancelled each other out, at least for me.
