We will be there all of next week and one of our familys favorites is GRR. However, I'm a little concerned about riding this one during the cooler temps as we usually get soaked, (even with ponchos on!). Do people ride this during the cooler temps? I've heard about them turning down the water functions, is this true, if so how much does it help?

We always go in late November and have never gotten soaked on GRR. I do think they tame it during the cooler months, but there is no guarantee that you won't get at least partially wet.

My boyfriend and I rode it last December with another family of 4. The youngest of their group sat on our side and her whole family got soaked, while we stayed surprisingly dry. She thought that was the best thing ever.

If you can space yourselves out so one side isn't heavier then the other, and so no one is sitting right next to the opening where you climb in, you should stay pretty dry.

First time I rode was in December, after dark in the rain. I wore a poncho, got rather drenched on the no poncho'd parts, and it was FINE.

My nutty kids try to get soaked. :scared: And usually manage. We are all thin and somehow our raft ends up soaked. I used to think it was a weight thing but it's not. They fight for the opening. :rotfl: I always wear my poncho.

If you plan on taking afternoon breaks, try riding it just before that so then if you do get wet you are already going back to your hotel anyway.

You can try to plan it so that if you do get soaked you can head back to your room to dry off afterwards! We never let time of year/cold keep us off water rides!

Thanks for responses, I think we will go for it! We all love that ride, so we will take our chances. After I posted my question I remembered two years ago coming off of it soaked (in the summer) and we went to grab a Churro, and the very nice CM at the Churro Cart, told us that in the cooler months after coming off of GRR to head over to the Grand Californian and sit by the fire to warm up. At the time we didn't want to warm up, but that tip may come in handy next week;)
