Hi Everyone,

Well the judging in over and it was a wonderful experience! I placed in the top 15 overall. I got so many wonderful complements from my fellow competitors, spectators and the judges.

The competition was incredibly fierce as it always is, and this year even more so. There were 60 adult entries, down somewhat from previous years and of the 60, 35 or so were worthy of the top 10. Even the judges said that they had an incredibly difficult time choosing only 10. Several of the 10 judges had me in their personal top 10, but not enough to make it in to the overall top 10. Nicholas Lodge, the head judge and Collette Peters had me on their sheets which is good enough for me!

Several of the top 10 winners said to me afterward that they were shocked that I was not included in the top 10. One of my friends, who was up looking at the top 10 winners said that she even overheard several of them talking about why the "12 Days of Christmas Village" was NOT included in the top 10. One lady said that she felt that hers should not have been included and mine should.

All in all it was a wonderful experience and one that I will do again. I will have pictures of my finished entry as well as pictures of the judging up later on this evening.

Linda -Have you posted a picture of the final product?

My husband is going to the Grove Park in a couple of weeks for a conference.
Will yours be on display? Or is that reserved for the top ten?

Congratulations!

Congrats!! So excited for the pics! :goodvibes

Congrats! We love the Grove Park Inn and the Gingerbread houses! Wish we could go see them again this year!

Pictures of the final product have not been put up yet as it was not completely finished until about an hour before judging began. I will have some up this evening.

As to the display, all of the pieces are on display. I have been told that mine should be on the main level in the Sammons Wing.

:cheer2::cheer2:Congratulations!! That is so amazing! I can't wait to see the photos! Do you know if this year's competition will be shown anywhere on tv? We love to watch it! SO happy for you!

Wow! Congrats. I can't wait to see the pictures, and hope it will be on tv this year!

There is virtally no chance of it being on TV. The Food Network stopped covering this competition in 2007. Why, I don't know, as competition shows seem to be extremely popular.

They also stopped their cookie swap special. I really enjoyed that every year and got some great ideas.

Congratulations! I can't wait to see the finished product. And being in Collette's sheet would be good enough for me too!

Hi LJC1861,
CONGRATULATIONS! That is wonderful news and it is great to hear how nice everyone was to you. That makes the experience that much better. Please make sure to post the pictures as I love to see gingerbread houses. Job well done and thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

As you can see....all different and all quite unique. There is one more, a train that was really intricate but I didn't get a good picture of it.

Wow, you did a superb job!! Love your design and execution and I have to agree that in my book you would have been top 10....even first place!

Congratulations! I'm just beginning my gingerbread baking, and bet you are glad to be done with yours! Merry Christmas!

PS. Still in awe of that all royal icing church!!!

My next project...gingerbread that can actually be eaten without breaking any teeth. I am going to begin some holiday cookie baking next weekend.
