Groups and charities?

Hi! Although I just registered, I have been frequenting these boards for quite some time. The DIS was a tremendous help in planning my last two trips (July 2003 and Dec. 2006). I am planning on entering the 2008 marathon and would like to be affiliated with a charity. Although there is a charity already mentioned on the WDW site that I could go with, I would love to go with a local charity if possible. I have searched the WDW site and am unable to find any information on this. It's probably staring me in the face, but if it is, I don't see it. Do I have to go with one of the listed groups/charities or can I go with another one? Also, if you know, what, if any, are the group's obligations (not to me, but to Disney) to become a charity/group? Or can I run for a group without the group being an official group on the WDW site? Thanks!

You can run for whatever charity you WISH. The larger charities listed have large groups that offer training and support along the way.

I know one of our WISH Team members had a link to a way to raise money for a personal charity through online contributions that you could send links to friends and family.

The site here disboards will not support any solicitations so that I think is why you will not find specific information for specific fund raising.

I raised money for the AT Children's Project for the Disneyland half marathon last year. I highly recommend them - fabulous organization! Angie from the WISH boards runs for them as well.
