Just noticed showcase of citrus at Clermont is on Groupon again.

We did it last year - nice change of pace. My DD aged 6 still talks about it.

Groupon price is $20 for 2 adults and $5 per child for the 60 minute swamp tour on a monster truck.

Aswell as the tour you can pick oranges - think small bags were about $5 plus a gift shop selling local produce. It's just up hwy 27 not far past 192 turning.

I wonder if Karen would be interested in this?
Groupon just sent me an email saying I have $10 off if I buy anything before 2nd Oct.
Is it worth doing just for 2 adults?

The monster truck is an old school bus on big wheels. There were some couples on our bus.

They drive around the property and you see all the orange groves and wildlife. Bit like an airboat ride.

We also enjoyed picking some oranges and having a bit of a wander around..there were chickens to feed behind the main building but you could avoid that (know Karen doesn't like birds!) The cow feeding bit is fun..no idea cows loved oranges.

If it will only cost you $10 i'd definitely give it a try.

Just discussed it. She doesn't like Chickens or cows so not doing it :rotfl2:

thanks
bought mine for october.

I tried contacting them through email a few weeks ago, but never got any response.
anyone have experience reserving with them ? How far in advance should I book the tour ? Should I call them or try to email again ?

a bit confused, lol. I'm getting over anxious now that we're only 3 weeks away from take off, and everything seems to take dramatic proportions as if I had lost my ability to think rationally ;)
planning overload I guess

I emailed them but when we turned up we were the only ones there and they said they had no driver and to come back later.

Personally I would call a few days before and agree a time.

glad you bumped this thread Wayne

I forgot to tell how it went last october

We tried to book in advance, but the guy over the phone told us that they wouldn't take reservations farther ahead than one day.

so we decided to just turn up at the showcase of citrus.

We asked the lady there and she told us the tour would leave 10 minutes later. She validated our groupons and we just had time to cross the bridge over to the grove, and board the humungous bus.
(we probably were lucky that this was a slow period - friday november 2nd ... oh btw it was DISmeet day and my birthday too - I know I didn't mention it a Boardwalk, I'm a shy guy :) )

The tour was nice, but unfortunately we didn't see any gator. We didn't see any swamp either, as the driver told us, the swamps are going dry

we fed the cows, that was wa definite hit with DS

here are DW and DS by the side of the bus

and here is what it looks like inside

the orange picking is also well worth a trip over there

Sounds like its worth doing with the Groupon deal but maybe not at full price.

I agree 100%

I would gladly do it again with a 50% off deal like this one, but I wouldn't pay full price

I would still go there to pick citrus even without doing the eco tour. (maybe not on my own, but with children that's definitely a good way to break with the theme park marathon)

But, as Netty advised, it's only really worth doing (the picking) when the season is right
they have a calendar on their site

You should have said it was your birthday and we would have sung for you :cool1: could have even done it in French (that is about the extent of my french - remember singing it at primary school!)

Glad you and your little boy enjoyed the monster truck tour.

Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a change of pace for a few hours - groupon price is very reasonable.

I couldn't have helped with that one. My French goes as far as je m'appelle Wayne. I struggle with English, don't need to complicate things with another language. :rotfl:

:rockband:Happy belated birthday, and im glad you are feeling better after your spell in hospital. I love the idea of picking your own orange and that truck looks like something you wouldn't forget in a hurry!
No Florida hols for us this year, but maybe next year, if the lads still want to be seen out with old mother goose!:)
