I recently saw a post about someone saying theit child had been granted a trip to Disney World each year until the child is 18 from an organization that helps children who have lost a parent. This organization helps children keep family traditions alive. I've searched and looked and I can't seem to find that thread. Does anyone know what the name of the organization is? Thank you

Thanks, I'm still scrolling through pages of old posts trying to remember where I saw it.

if you remember any part of the title, throw that into google with disboards and it should help narrow the search. Good luck!

This sounds like an urban legend. Hundreds of thousands of minors lose a parent every year - and you're saying there is a non-profit that promises a free Disney trip to each child, each year, until they are adults?

I highly doubt it; sounds like a job for Snopes.com!

(PS There WAS a post on the DIS last week where someone knew a family that had lost their Dad and was asking the same thing. Others went on to chime in, via web sleuthing, that the Dad in question had a felony rap sheet, had a DUI from earlier this year, and died in a drunken motorcycle accident. Sigh. The power of the internet. :rolleyes1 But no one knew of a non profit offering what you, and they, were looking for.)

Best to the family you are checking for!

It was real. I had gone to the organizations website and thought I bookmarked it but I didn't. What they do is grant a wish to a child to fill a family tradition each year until the child turns 18. The tradition must be something that the child did with the parent who passed away. Could simply choose planting a garden every year because the plant flowers with their mother. The boy that the woman posted that was her nephew I believe, and they had to prove to the organization that the boy went with his family every year to Disney World. Not every child gets to go to Disney World each year till they turn 18.

Wow, every year? This organization must have tons of money.

I hope that you find it.

I just found it!!! Family Lives On Foundation. The family I am checking for is my own. My husband is a New York City police sergeant, and a 9/11 first responder. He spent a lot of time at Ground Zero. He was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer with multiple metastases, that have been certified as 9/11 related. I wanted to keep this organization in mind from my son should anything happen to his father.

Good Heavens! Blessings to your husband for his service, and I hope you never need the foundation!

Don't have anything helpful to add but wanted to give you a
Hope you and your family is getting all the support you need.

My mother has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer TWICE. Both times she retested 2 months later and no cancer. Other medical issues stopped her from having any treatment. The second time it was diagnosed with multiple metastases. I now know more about the test and how they rate them for positive cancer. But they fact is they do not know until they sample it. This was in New Jersey.

Don't give up hope. x
