Group dining or split the reservations?

We are going for Thanksgiving week with 18 people. We will likely only eat all together for Thanksgiving dinner and are hoping for a 7:30ish at R&C so we can go to the viewing area for Illuminations. Still confirming our headcount for the other ressies, but wondering if it is better to call Group dining for one reservation or just split it into 2 tables, make the reservations myself and then ask to be near each other. Or will we get split anyway....
