Don't know if this already posted but story in Orlando paper today says completion of $25 million in renovations on Grosvenor near completion and new name is Regal Sun Resort as of 9/1. New lobby and remodeling all the rooms. Enhancements to pool area in November but pool will stay open.

With all the negative reviews of Grosvenor over the years a new name probably a good idea.

Thanks for the info. I stayed at the Grosvenor three years ago in a tower room...I thought it to be a perfectly acceptable hotel...especially given the price I paid. I'm curious to see the hotel under renovation. This year we're staying at the Royal Plaza...we'll have to check it out.:thumbsup2

I stayed in tower rooms twice and they were fine, the other rooms in the wings had a 1970s Holiday Inn feel about them.

I had forgotten last time I stayed at Grosvenor, about 6 months ago, I stayed in a tower room for one night. On my way from my room to the lobby I heard two different groups of people talking to each other about problems with the hotel- something about their room or check-in or whatever. I like the location of the Grosvenor, hope the changes work out.

We stayed at Grovsenor back in 2004 and had no problems with it at all. We paid $55.00/night entertainment rate, and it was really nice. Love walking over to DTD each evening, the kids enjoyed the pool . We did not eat there, so I can't comment on that, the bus was of course not as quick as the Disney buses, but I can say I would stay there again.

Wonder what it will look like now?

I'm wondering how much they'll raise their rates! It was a really good option for the price it was.

Saw on Travelzoo there is a special rate through September, standard rooms start at $75 with discounts for other rooms available.
