Has anyone ever stayed at this hotel. I think it's an onsite hotel near downtown disney. Any feed back on this? I found rooms that accom. 5 for 89. a night.

Thanks,
Lisa :wizard:

My GF and I stayed there a couple of years ago and while I can't remember exactly why, we did not care for it. I just don't think it was up to our standards, which is why it is probably so inexpensive.

We stayed there in July, 2003. We were not in the main building--it was more of wing thing with doors that opened to an exterior walkway. Crummy view but generally clean. Our biggest complaint was the transportation. Supposedly scheduled to come every 20 minutes. More like..here's a bus to DAK (full), 20 minutes later another bus comes for MGM (also full) etc. The worst part was in the late afternoon/early evening when we wanted to go back to the hotel to swim or change or whatever, we had to wait at a distant location from the other bus stops in the 95 degree heat, no shade and nowhere to sit down for almost an hour and still had to stand on the bus. That can definitely suck the fun right out of your trip. Fortunately we had our car and drove the rest of the time. We did have to pay the 8 bucks or so for parking, but made life so much easier. On site at any price has got to be better. Oh, and by the way, the choices for food weren't what we would have wanted either.

When we stayed, there was mold/mildew in the bathroom, and there were hairs in our bed (I know that's picky, but when I see sheets with many hairs, I feel they can't have been washed very well).
Cheers!

One night years ago so won't comment on anything specific but will say I think better values are possible elsewhere......

Keep looking !!! We were promised a room for five also with a sofabed - did not happen. Had it in writing - did not happen ! Room was substandard.

We only paid $55 a night and I don't think we got our money's worth. It is SO NOT up to what should be minimum standards at DTD.

You know it's funny, I've stayed at the Grosvenor twice on short trips and I've never had a problem. The rooms are definitely dated and in need of upgrading, but my rooms were both clean and I got great service. Both times I got a room for $55 a night with the Entertainment book discount and I was a bit wary because of things I've read here, but I checked out my room very closely and while basic it was clean as a whistle. For $55 a night and the very close walking access to DTD it was worth it.

I do not recommend the buffet in their dining room though! The breakfast buffet was delicious, but the dinner left alot to be desired!

Sounds like mixed reviews. If anyone that didn't explain--could explain why they didn't like it. It would be very helpful to the OP to be able to make a decision based on what was wrong. Thank you :) .

1) Room was not bed configuration promised
2) Room was very outdated decor and worn, and not particularly clean, felt like a Motel 3
3) Fridge was broken
4) Sidewalks broken and buckled, generally poor outside maintenance
5) Elevators in side buildings very compact like they are built for 3 people (just didn't feel safe and we had to use or hike stairs)
6) Everytime we went in lobby (Dis store/tickets or to use real size elevators) we were hassled by time share people. They had their own desk apart from front desk.
7) Everything for sale by pool was overpriced even for resort
8) No customer service

We were there with several families from FL for a family reunion, and it was so bad they ALL decided to go home early : (

I've decided to take the advice and have booked a room at the buena vista suites. This way I get a suite and free american breakfast buffet everyday for 88.00 a night. We're driving so i'll have a car and won't really have to fool with buses. Thanks for the tip

Buena Vista Suites is also one of the 9 preferred hotels listed by Mousesavers. I would trust her judgement, she did us right at Doubletree Suites.

ps Even when we stayed at DTD, we drove our car.
