We arrive late sat night 8/7 so we are staying one night at Doubletree Castle (got the $49 rate!!) before we check into BCV. Our plan is to stop at a grocery store before we head to BCV Sunday morning. What store could anyone recomend for good prices on cereal, deli meats, pop etc that would be on the way to BCV?

There is a new super walmart very close to your hotel that will have everything you could possibly need.

The address is 8990 Turkey Lake Road, Orlando, FL‎

Sure, even closer to your hotel, on the same street as walmart, is Whole Foods.

8003 Turkey Lake Road

Whole Foods has excellent stuff, but the prices are a bit more than wal-mart

The deli at whole foods may "suck" depending on your kids' tastes. I'm a grown adult and I know the deli meats SUCK at whole foods. I know they are natural, but they naturally suck and I would rather eat all sorts of nitrates and dioxin and polyvinylacetates than look and smell and taste that crap on my sammich. I worked a deli and I wouldn't have the gall to pass that off as deli meat. What they called soppresata was, well the soppresata wasn't that bad, but the ham sucked. Most of the other stuff at whole foods is good, like the produce and the seafood and the meats, but the deli sucks, at least the ham, and I suspect the turkey. Their bread is good and even the cheese. The deli however...

In addition to WalMart, there is Publix. Continue on Turkey Lake road past the Wal-Mart towards Sand Lake road (When you leave Wal-Mart make a left on Turkey Lake Road). Turn left on Sand Lake Road and go about 1/4 mile. There is a Publix on the left side of SL-Road, they have good deli and fried chicken. Their store brands are good, and the sale prices are good, but they can be pricey as well. Quality-wise though, they are usually very good. Fresh stuff, Publix. Boxed stuff, Walmart.

Or if you're going straight to Publix from the hotel, take I-Drive to SL-Road, turn left on SLR and drive past I-4 and Turkey Lake Rd. and continue about 1/4 mile to Publix on left side. They have a big green sign that says "Publix", and the deli is good.

Depending on how late, you may be stuck with the Walmart since it is 24-hours.

Remember, the deli at whole foods sucks.

Thanks PineappleWhip....I don't think I would go to Whole foods. I might try Publix. My kids call the deli meat at Walmart "slimy". Deli meat is the only thing they are a little picky about. I know I don't like "slimy" deli meat either! Thanks for the info.:thumbsup2

No problem. You might enjoy the dining in that area around the Publix as well, and the dining in "Pointe Orlando" down I-Drive is pretty good also.

I haven't been in that Publix, but they usually make their deli area the impulse buy / gourmet / prepared foods area, so if you go in there hungry, you'll keep picking stuff up.

Their deli's are mostly Boar's Head, their NY Style Cheesecake really is NY style (has no crust, just cheese goodness), the fried chicken is pretty addictive, and the wine / beer selection is fairly decent. I eat good whenever I'm in there so I try to stay away... then I go to get a gallon of milk and come out with $50 in other stuff. They're good with their specials and their specialty items.

A little before the Wal-Mart in a strip mall on Turkey Lake, there is a good Chinese food place called Taste of Asia. In the same mall as the Whole Foods, there is a "Delish NY bakery" with decent bagels. K-Mart is a right from Sand Lake onto Turkey Lake at the 7-Eleven.

Have fun on your trip!
