Grocery Items Prior to Check In? (OKW)

Since check in isn't until 4pm and we know we can check in at any time and get our KTTW, head to the park, whatever, we'd like to stop at the store first and grab our groceries for the week. We'll be staying at OKW. I thought I had read before that we could ask them to hold our perishable items if our room is not ready when we arrive, but is anyone able to tell me for certain? I don't want to use GG or any other shopping company because of the cost and we are driving so it's fine for us to do the shopping ourselves. We can go back out after we get our Villa but it'd be great to not have to drive again for a week !! I haven't had a room NOT ready since I've been DVC but I don't wanna assume that it will be ready when I arrive knowing that it isn't required to be until 4pm. We are getting a GV. Thanks for all your help on all the info I receive here, I couldn't make it without the DIS!!

Yes they will hold your groceries for you. Make sure you have refridgerator items and freezer items separate. The have both a freezer and fridge to put things in. If you can bring larger bags with you, it would be better too. They ask for the number of bags you have and when they bring them to your room, it just takes more trips especially if you are in a non elevator villa and not on the first floor.

Since you are driving, can you bring a cooler to store things in too. We've been to the store several times with a ton of bags and it is a hassle with bell services. Not on their part, but our's. The stores only have the little plastic bags, not larger paper ones. We always thought it was pain loading and taking them to the room. If you have several people in your party that might help though.

We usually use GG and they leave the groceries at bell services and then we have them delivered. I think 95% of the time the room has been ready when we have arrived at OKW but as you stated, it is not guaranteed. Once when we had a GV it was after 6pm until we got into our room.

You could always call OKW and see what the policy is about leaving perishable items with bell services. I would bet that it is ok and you can do it but I would check with them first. I am sure there is someone else who has had this experience and will be able to guide you.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to OKV! I love SSR and the GV there was amazing so I bet it will be likewise at OKV!

I never considered a cooler, but one of the vehicles is an Avalanche and the other is a Pacifica so we could put the cooler in with truck for sure if they won't let us use a fridge and freezer! Thanks for the help! I will call to make sure I suppose, but the cooler could be used if they say no!

Wow I am really jealous. We have stayed at OKW many times and never got into a room before 4pm. How do you do it?????
