I see many people talking about the grocery deliver through other options Amazon, garden grocer etc. I am wondering if anyone has used the WDW grocery delivery. I am almost positive that i have seen such a thing. What negatives, if any have you had with there service? or is the service just as good as these other options with just being more expensive.

Haven't used them, but generally the issue is:
1) Price
2) Selection

Is it only available once you get there? We are not looking for a ton of groceries but a few items to keep in the room or take to the park. I'm also considering packing some food in a checked bag but not sure how some of the items will travel. I'm thinking that with a hard sided suitcase i could pack cereal hot & cold, granola bars, halo oranges, bagels, English muffins. Just more snacks and quick breakfast items.

We want to have an empty suit case for items that we buy so it kind of works to check a piece of luggage packed with food items and then it will empty for our purchases.

The main items i would need to buy once at WDW would be cases of water, OJ juice and some cold items like cream cheese, milk and coffee creamer. So probably not enough to make it worth a garden grocer delivery.

I think packing a suitcase as you describe would work fine. When we drive we normally bring similar items and then get the perishables from the resort. It's just DH and myself and we need only breakfast items, so a visit to the gift shop for OJ, bacon, eggs, milk etc. is quick and easy. Yes they're pricey compared to a grocery, but it's worth it to us as a time saver.

We have used the DVC grocery order form but it was many, MANY years ago. I remember that one or more of the eggs were cracked. We called and reported it, and they brought a fresh carton pretty quickly. In general we find it just as easy to walk down to the store and pick out what we want.

There is a grocery order form on the DVC website. I always thought they got the items in the resort gift shop, and brought them up to your room, but I've never tried it.

I think the “cases of water” may make an alternative source better. Also, if you wanted any fresh fruit, vegetables the selection is very very limited.

Check the website for prices and sizes. A few things are a bit more expensive,, some are unbelievable expensive.
I don't believe resort shops have cases of water any more. I think it's more like an 8 pack.

Last few trips we have used amazon prime now. For the two of us, we got case of water for parks, a few gallons of water for coffee, and the creamer, cream cheese, etc like you mentioned.

I was able to find the DVC order for. It is very limited, prices aren't really that much more if not the same as garden grocer. I am now on to researching Amazon Prime Now. Seems like the prices are more reasonable, but i just need to find out more about the details as to them being derived and held at bell services

One thing about prime now. Last trip I had about 8 items including cases of diet pepsi on my list . When we got to our room and I went to order, it appears every drop of diet pepsi and diet coke left the planet. They had flavored (like cherry or lime) diet pepsi/coke, just not the plain stuff. I ended up ordering some other soda (root beer and fresca) which wasn't the end of the world, but just didn't expect it. I didn't realize they could run out of things

We first loaded our amazon prime now c art about 6 months before our trip. i checked it often, sometimes weekly, sometimes daily. they ran out of things OFTEN. sometimes it wowuld be for a day or two, other times for a week or weeks, and some things never came back as available.

Since we also did a garden grocer order we did an add-on to it for the things that we HAD to have as we did not trust amazon prime now to have them in stock when it actually came time to place the order. while we will use amazon prime now again, I was quite disappointed with that aspect of the experience.

Yes, I was disappointed but it wasn't earth shattering just for the two of us, now if I was traveling with my grandkids, it would be a much bigger deal.

But as you said, I was debating if I should wait a day to order to get the items I wanted. It was days before cases of diet pepsi was back in stock.

When we got back I emailed amazon about it and they sent back a link to order diet pepsi........it was about $5 for the soda and about $20 for shipping....yeah, amazon, I'll get right on that deal.
