Groceries

We started with Garden Grocery.......got too expensive
Went to WeGoShop.......used a couple of times and then bad experience
Used WalMart once and it was a mess......never again
Now for the last couple of years Prime Now. True limited choices, but they work for us and service to top notch

I've used Garden Grocer in the past and switched to Instacart after GG prices went up and the selection when down. Last August Instacart delivery was problematic--it seems the address for Animal Kingdom Lodge (2901 Osceola Parkway) in some GPS apps selected WEST Osceola Parkway as a default. Our delivery was an hour late b/c of that mix up; it was the drivers first instacart order ever. Now, however, I leave instructions that point that out---that we are a specific Disney resort.

Instacart is still expensive, but I prefer this to wandering around Publix looking for items.

I also always wait until I've been given my room to make my order request. My son and husband will go swimming or even to a park but I wait for the groceries. I couldn't relax knowing I had to have my room for sure at certain time or that I'd have to get out of the park at certain time. We've never been in the lucky people who get a room early, and have twice not had a room until after 5PM, once after 6PM. Therefore, I wait.

Not sure if this post is okay here or if I need to go to the Grocery Delivery FAQ thread...but we're staying at BCV in late April, planning on doing Whole Foods delivery through Amazon Prime (they seem to have a larger selection than Prime Now). Is this essentially the same as a Prime Now delivery in that it will be dropped at Bell Services? Also, I've noted the $6 delivery fee to our room, is that for the entire order or just one bag of groceries?

Whole Foods is through Prime Now and so delivered the same way.
The $6 delivery to your room is for the whole order

Add on question, as I'm considering using WF-PN - we have used this at home so I like have familiarity with the service already. But this is our first delivery since the $6 charge. Unfortunately we are landing late in the evening - around 8:30 pm. If we order through PN, and have delivery to BLT, can we specify that we want it to go to our room if we picked a delivery window after 4 pm? Or do we ask Bell Services to bring it up to our room after we've checked in? I feel like, in the past, we've been able to get groceries to our room upon arrival, but maybe my memory is hazy on that.

Second question, we will be transferring from BLT to AKL - the last time we did that, we packed up our remaining food, including cold/perishable items, which was all transferred with our bags. Will they do that again for us? Any charges for that?

We almost always come in on very late flights. They will not deliver to your room before arrival, just in case of room changes, etc. We order for delivery around 6-7 and then just tell the Bell Service desk when we arrive and have our room number to bring it to our room and they generally deliver the order quickly.

Thanks! Was worried about the late arrival. And I assume that, once you've requested the delivery, then they charge the $6 fee to your room bill?

I've used Instacart many times. Something you should be aware of: the Instacart app and website have features that allow you to communicate directly with your shopper and driver. You can see exactly when your order is en route. You can ask the driver if he would be so kind as to deliver directly to your room. I've been very pleased.

We have used prime now the last 3 trips, and have zero complaints. We usually pick our groceries up from bell services and take them back to our room...thus no additional $6 delivery fee from the resort (did this as recently as December).

I hope this is ok to ask. If you pick things up from bell services, such as groceries or luggage, are you expected to tip even though they aren't bringing it to your room? I take it the answer is yes, since they are holding and getting things for you.

Yes, the $6 typically shows up on our bill the next day.
