Simple but very important question as my 80 yo mom is planning on riding this August. She loved Transformers and Spider Man - no issues. But Mummy will KILL her. So do we think Gringotts is more of one or the other??

My gut says it can't be as intense as the Mummy because you'll be in 3-D glasses and they would fly off a kid. No?

Isn't Gringotts going to be very similar to Forbidden Journey, which to me is not very similar to any of the rides mentioned.

Visually it could be compared to Spider-Man or Transformers, but movement ride it is ALL over the place, unlike the Mummy which is on a linear track.

I think part of the ride is like traditional roller coasters aka Mummy (on a track) and part is like Spider-Man going room to room mounted to a ground platform. That is what I have been hearing.

It will NOT be like forbidden journey. That ride is single row of 4 seats on a arm that "flys" from one scene to the next (room to room). It is not attached to the ground or a track.

At this point, it's still a bit too early to tell how intense it is. The people who have ridden it, TM and special guests, aren't talking. That being said, the restraints are similar to the Mummy but it has a lower height requirement than the Mummy. The rumors are that the "roller coaster" sections will be shorter and less intense than The Mummy.

I knew the seating was different than FJ, but I was thinking it was rapid movements like FJ, wasn't even considering the track part of the ride similar to a standard coaster type ride.

Now I'm even more curious than I was before

I can't wait to find out too!!! Since the height restriction is lower, I imagine it is less intense.

I hope this is true!!! mummy is about my tops, as far as roller coasters. it still scares me to death. but I chickeed out of forbidden journey hubby rode it first and told me I would hate it.
gringotts doesn't go upside down, does it?

It's so hard for us to tell anymore. nebo used to ride the ride first, and thentell me if I would like it or not. we did this with Mummy, and at first he said he just wasn't sure . the next year he said he thought I should tryi it.. and I did. and I survived...lol not crazy about it, but I like a little thrill (and I want to ride as many things with him as I can, since he really hates riding alone)

well, now fast forward to Forbidden Journey. unfortunatley , by the time this ride came out, his eyes had gotten much worse. (he suffers from Macular Degeneration.) he rode it alone and told me "I think it would be a really cool ride for someone who could see what was going on. but the way I was tossed back and forth, I don't think you'd like it at all.. I think if I told you to go on it, "you would kill me".. lol

as an aside, the first time he rode it, we just went in the regular line.. boy , was that a mistake. I told the Cm (or whatever they are called) he can't see, you need to really help him get on the ride vehicle.

it just went way too fast and he ended up getting banged and bruised (if you read any of his trip reports, you know he is used to gettig banged up and bruised.. but he IS getting rather tired of it)

the next time, we tried to use the Universal's version of disney's GAc (which is now defunct)... it took forever for someone to take us to the proper elevatior to get there, and waited a LONG time.

but the good thing was, the ride vehicle was stopped. so it wasn't an "assmbly line kind of "QUICK!!!! jump in your seat, you're leaving in 3.4 seconds!!" kind of thing. so that helped
