Has anyone heard if there will be charcoal grills at the Polynesian? Thanks!!

Tikiman has said there are plans for grills in the middle of the 3 DVC longhouses. No one has seen that area to know if they have done any work in that area, if it is completed, or if they were waiting until later to add them.

Until the walls come down, Tikiman's information is the best we have. We may not know until April 1.

That is what they have at Aulani. However, Aulani had problems with guests forgetting to turn them off. Aulani shut the grills down for a while trying to fix this problem. I don't know what they came up with.

Gas grills are the way to go.
Other than Aulani and VB, does DVC have gas grills elsewhere. This is one of the areas DVC has lagged behind other timeshares, many of which have high end gas grills and clean them daily as a minimum. Many also have the ability to check out grill equipment.

tikiman posted a picture of the area on his Facebook page I believe yesterday but it wasn't complete yet.

I am fairly confident that BLT has grills.

I thought I saw somewhere that the grill will be gas. You can get the utensils there too, not sure where though.

VGC and VGF have gas grills. Someone mentioned BLT which is charcoal like all the other remaining WDW resorts.

Aulani sadly restricts usage of their gas grills to the evening now since they had the reported issues with people leaving grills on.

Staying in a 3rd floor Pago Pago room facing the construction. We can see into Tokelau. Top floor looks complete, 2nd floor also has all furniture in place, but no drapes up yet. Ground floor walls look complete and the last 2 mornings, furniture trucks have been making deliveries.

Our room is directly in front of the BBQ area being built. Today they are definitely placing gas lines. Now these could just be for additional gas lights, but by the layout, it looks to us as if the grills will be gas.

I wrote an email to member services and they said the grills will not be operational until late 2015 :-(

I find that very unlikely. MS is just giving you the date that all current construction (East Pool) is scheduled to be complete. Grills should be operational way before that date.

Yesterday (Saturday) there were two brand new gas grills ready to go by pago pago. No construction tape in sight. Under a little hut with a board posted with rules and regulations.

Yep, what deeddisneydream9 said. I was on property on Monday and the fence around the new grill area was gone and everything looked ready to go!

The grills are Viking gas grills, and are finished and open. Check Tikiman on Facebook for photos. You will need your DVC member card to sign in for usage at the Front Desk and BBQ utensils. There are two grills, 4 picnic tables and an covered area.

The grills are gas grills and are up and running. We just left the Poly yesterday and someone was grilling Saturday night.
