4/27/04 Day 6 at Sea

Ahhhhh we don't have to be anywhere this morning soooo?? yes!! we get to sleep in. Why do kids decide to wake up early on days when they don't have to and yet they're dead to the world on mornings when they need to get up? I'm sure the answer probably resides in the same place where half of all my socks end up. Well its a room service morning anyways. Lots of cereal and Krispy Kremes on the verandah. And then the girls are off to occupy the bathrooms to get ready. It took me till the end of the cruise to discover that if I acutally had to use the bathroom in the morning it was easier to just take a stroll aft to a public bathroom. :) ( it wasnt really that bad but I like to give my girls a hard time ) DW and DD7 want the Mickey Pool and Sun respectively. It's up to Deck 10 to see if we can get some chairs overlooking the Mickey Pool( side note: plenty of chairs over by the Goofy pool ). Man was it windy!!! Don't leave anything light weight lying around on a windy deck( i.e. slip on sandals etc. ) they just get blown away. Normally I wouldn't like alot of wind as it would make you cold...surprisingly given the tempature, it was fine. DD13 wanted to try some more bingo so off to the Disney Theatre and a mid morning Pina Colada..hmmmm. This was my day to shine!! I received the pleasure of being one number away from bingo on every game...and not winning :(. Full of Bingo Love we went to check on DW and DD7. DD13 wanted to goto a movie. Finding Nemo was playing and we both thought it might be fun seeing this on board( the whole tropical feel and all ). I asked DD7 if she wanted to go...she was really torn..but in the end she said "Well, we own Finding Nemo so I can see that anytime I want at home but I don't always get to go into the Mickey Pool". Can't beat that logic. With that it was back in splashing with whatever new friend she would make for the day. DW was content to soak up as much ocean sun as possible..so off to the movies for me and DD13. It was acutally a little crowded...not bad..but they had a kids club group in there and I guess several Dads and their children had the same idea. I really enjoy animated movies...Disney in particular..so this was fun and relaxing for me as it was for DD13. She loves this movie because of Dorie. I think all of her friends think she has alot in common with her....she thinks it funny( I'm like...heellllooo thats not a good thing...but what do I know im just "the dad" ) Backup to Deck 9/10 and DD7 is still going strong. Everyone agrees its a good time for a Scoops break( I however need a Plutos break as I missed the seafood buffett!!!! what i do for my kids ). It was nice sitting out back on the Topsiders balcony with no one there. Though the ice cream defintely melts quick in the direct sun. Recharged DD7 wants another crack at the Mickey Pool and Slide.( If Disney ever builds another boat they should make like 5 of these pools ). DD13 wants to go back to the final Jackpot bingo( as did i...i wanted the big money!! DD13 was under the impression if she won she would get to keep it all...i asked her how much she paid for the bingo card..."ummm nothing." ..."exactly" I said. I'm not totaly heartless and greedy :teeth: I told her we would do someting special with it if we won...( another side note...the gambling gods do not reward arrogance...if you start talking about spending money before you've won it your doomed to tragedies of greek proportions. ) DD7 was once again torn...she really wanted to play bingo...but there was the Mickey Pool just smiling at her ..beckoning her..."come play with me...". Well the gambling gods really wanted to stick it to me and choose that moment to intervene. A child got sick in the pool....and just like that its everyone out of the pool and its closed( i guess it takes 2 hours or so to empty..clean..and refill the pool ). So now everyone is free to go expereince "Bingo Love" or as I said in previous posts it was now "Bingo Lust". DW abstained for some more relaxtion time. The gambling gods defintely wanted to make me suffer by alternating "almost bingos" between the 3 of us. Oh well...we did have fun and someone left happy with $5000. And at least the god of "tropical girl drinks" rewarded me with another tasty Pina Colada. We ran into DW on the way out and decided we needed to check on the many many many many many...I mean many pictures we have in Shutters.( they should rename this place to Shudders!! cuz thats what you do when you realize how much you spent on pictures :) ) Well its back up to the room because its almost time to get ready for dinner. On they way up we ran into our room steward Eric. He asked us if we would be available after dinner...that we had been selected for a "Magical Moments" with the room steward. We had no idea what this meant but said sure. Tonight was Lumieres and Lobster tails. I was dying to have these as I've read so many reports on them. I told DeePak right off I know what I want and please bring me two!!! As someone else in another report mentioned I was a little disappointed in that they were a bit dry...and that was after somthering it in butter. But hey...dry lobsters tails beat juicy junk food so no real complaints. Crisiti informed that I could not get my usual "Bass Ale" I had unfortunately drunk the ship dry :p But he did get me a Guiness to console me.:drinking1 Once again another great meal with great service from Deepak and Cristi. Back to our room we go to experience our "Magical Moment". What this ended up being was Eric's boss( a very nice Scandanavian woman....why do so many cruise ship officers come from this part of the world?? is there a spcial cruise ship college they all goto? ) came with a camera and Eric was going to give us a private lesson in folding towel animals. He said we could pick any animal he had done during the week....well that night he did a monkey...which looked hard but everyone wanted to learn it. So we all learned the ins and outs of making an monkey from towels( he also showed us how to do a swan just in case we forgot how to do the monkey ). We got our pictures taken with Eric and our Monkeys and then our moment was over. It was very nice and one of those things that just makes everything that much more special. Our magical moment being over it was time to head to Disney Dreams. We had seen this show on the wonder and I remember at the time thinking that it was ok but not really up to the hype I had heard about it. This time though I enjoyed it alot more..maybe because I knew what to expect but in part Im sure it was because DD7 was just so into seeing all of these characters come to life. Defintely worth seeing for this alone. Next up its time for a little quality time in Studio Sea. Ok my memory is starting to fail me a bit and I cant remember if this was a dancing night or the scavenger hunt night. I'll just pick at random and say it was the scavenger hunt. DD7 got a real kick out of this. They would ask for items...like a belt buckle...or a man wearing ladies shoes etc. Defintely up my DD7's alley. I don't know how they kept score because I know we didnt have as many points as others did but they announced us as the winners and we got to go get our "Im a Winner!" medals( which have the cruise line logo on them ). Makes for a great scrapbook item. Whew! were pooped...cruising is fun but we didnt pace ourselves to well and everyones tired. Up and into bed and everyones out within minutes...I however for some reason got into watching Mulan and had to finish watching it( told you I like disney movies ) and then I too succumbed to relaxing rocking and swaying of the boat( i wish i could duplicate this at home )

next up..disneys best port of call...Castaway Cay!!!
