find out how it all began...the begining...

Ok...its one day before the day we board the Magic but I can't bring myself to jump into the middle of a story
so when we last left our cast we had just turned in for some well deserved rest. But what I neglected to add was that we had an addition to our party that played a prominent role in our Magic Kingdom day. I told DD7 that she could get one thing from WDW( not that she needed it...but i like buying stuff...refer to previous post.."when we stop we shop" ). So before we even arrived at the park she new what she wanted....can anyone guess?? give up? "Pal Mickey" We had seen this on the last day of our WDW trip last year...but being the last day we didnt really look into it. Well DD7 had never forgot it..so why not. It was kind of cute..it told jokes and played games but I wasnt overly impressed..yet.. but DD7 was happy. So the morning of our 1 day at Magic Kingdom came and we were up early to goto a character breakfast at Magic Kingdom. We couldn't get Cinderlla's Royal Table this year but the Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends is also very good. We had an 8:10 priority seating which worked out great since the park itself didn't open until 9:00 we were able to get some pictures on a deserted Main Street with the girls and of course "Pal Mickey". This was the start of very exciting adventure with "Pal Mickey". I didn't know what to expect..but sure enough we had him turned on when entering the Park and as soon as we walked through the gate he starts shaking and giggling...well DD7 was beside herself...she pushed his stomach and out comes mickeys voice "We sure our going to have a wonderful day here at Magic Kindom today pal". DD7 eyes go up...huge grin.."How does he know were here". This was the moment that "Pal Mickey" became our 5th member...from here on out every character event, picture, ride and show..."Pal Mickey" was there. DD13 was quite impressed as well, shes at that age where she doesnt want to do these things herself but because she has a younger sister she can pretend shes doing things for her and still participate.....Dad's not fooled though. So off down main street to the Crystal Palace...there are few things that just instill joy in me...walking down main street in the quiet of a sunny morning is one of those moments. Verandah Man who posts on these boards has a quote at the end of his signature "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away" and this is exactly what I was thinking as I walking to breakfast. We got right in for our seating and by the time we got our juice we were being visited by all of Pooh's friends. What a great way to start a day at a park. I had to quickly dash out to a kiosk and buy an autograph book and pen....even though we probably have several of these things sitting at home they never seem to get packed( worked out well though because by the end of the cruise we had more signatures then we ever had before ). Pooh was holding court in the middle of the Buffett and we paid our respects and Pal Mickey had his first character picture taken( the first of many ). We timed breakfast great. We finished up and walked over to Cinderalla's castle where they have the rope up wating for the clock in fantasy land to strike 9am. The clock strikes 9 and for a few brief moments Fanasy Land is ours. Keeping in line with the Pooh theme it was off to the Winnie the Pooh ride and the beggining of our magical day with Pal Mickey. DD7 recieved another shake from Mickey and learned how much Mickey loved the Winnie the Pooh ride along with several new jokes that he apparently learned when we arrived in that section of the Park. This really became like a mini quest for us...how many jokes could we get mickey to say...off to the peter pan ride..and yep captain hook jokes...over to the buzz light year ride and we get space jokes. Then were in line and of course he starts shaking and giggling again....he just wanted to let us know that a show was starting in front of Cinderella's Castle in a half hour
The best Pal Mickey experience we had though was at the Haunted Mansion. We accidentally left him turned on and DD7 brought him on the ride...well here we are in the middle of the ride..right by the main dinning room where all the ghosts are dancing and there's one playing the organ and what happens?? yep he starts shaking...well DD7 grabs me and says "He's Shaking!!"...so we pushed his stomach...what does he say?? In his nice high pitched mickey voice "hey is that a ghost over there by the organ?"...well that was it..signed sealed and delivered..we had our magic disney moment for the day..even DD13 was impressed..our only disappointment was that we werent going to the other parks to see what other surprises he had( one side note...Pal Mickey doesnt do anything special on the boat...so any CM's out there..this would be a great feature! ). Well having been to Magic Kingdom many times now were pretty adept at getting on all the rides we want( the fastpass is truly one of the best things any amuesment park has implemented ). So after several Space Mountain, Splash Moutain, Shows, Parades and even hair braiding there was only one thing left to do...yep...the golden rule.."when we stop we shop". DD13 collects thimbles and DD7 collects spoons...DW and I collect magnets...so at the very least we have to go get all of these things...so first stop was toon town...i love that big tent with all that stuff....they now have a make your own mr. potato head with tons of disney add-ons...really cool getting a micky hat and mickey ice cream bar...a mickey autograph book and on and on...since you get to fill a box for $16 dollars it became my mission to see how much stuff i could fill in these boxes...the CM's said i did very well...though some other parent pointed out that i should just fill the box with the unique items and leave out the potato head..then goto walmart and just buy the head.....but everyone wanted the complete mr. potato head..oh well i tried. After toon town its back to main street to run the gauntlet of stores. Thimble, Spoon and Magnet in hand its time to say good bye to mickey..but we'll get to see him all dressed up in his ship dud's the next day so its not entirely sad. So back to AKL for another late dinner. This time the food court is fine with everyone and im able to get a Kenyan Beer from the cooler so im happy as well. Then back up to the room to tuck everyone in...but before turning in myself I took a walk down to the savannah path where there viewing the animals through night vision goggles. Didn't get to see alot...but it was kind of neat just looking through the goggles. Well then its time for me to turn in as well... we have a big day coming up....Cruising with Mickey on the Magic!!!
whew!! thanks for bearing with all of my pre-cruise ramble...but these couple of days did alot for building up our anticipation of boarding the Magic.
next up Day 1 on the Magic....woo hoo!!
