As a mother of 2 boys, it really warms my heart to hear your son is still excited about family trips to the world.

Have an awesome time!

I have just loved reading your posts. I just returned from a girls weekend in vegas with my oldest DD...a first for us. AND we were just talking about having a girls week at SSR. Just keep those reports coming...especially about the holiday decorations. Love this time of year at WDW/DLR.

Enjoy this time - how wonderful for your both.

We will be rolling in tomorrow night about 1:00 a.m. Can't wait to see all of the decorations!

I know you will have a Happy Thanksgiving!! :)

Glad to hear everything is going so well. Hope you have a magical week.:wizard:

Sounds like you are having a nice relaxing trip! We are having a hectic one, because we have new step grandchildren with us who have never been to WDW before, so we are in commando mode!

Hectic yes, but there is nothing like taking children to WDW for the first time.
Remember to rest well when you return home and know that the "first time feeling" only happens once.

What a lovely day we've had...both of us are exhausted...DS from a hard semester of science courses & labs, and me from a busier-than-usual 6-week work phase...se we decided to take it slow...

I got up early, as is my habit, and worked out...then headed over to Downtown Disney, w/DS's id and AP in hand, to exchange the voucher for the renewal for a new AP...went off w/out a hitch...by the time I got back, he was just barely beginning to stir...took us til 10:45 to actually make it out the door--

We went to Epcot, which was again stuffed to the gills...we had an ADR at Le Cellier at 12:30--checked in at 12:05 and were seated by 12:15...a wonderful steak and creme brulee lunch later. we did the International Showcaae circle...Future World was packed...wait for Soarin' was 140 minutes (still had fast passes, for 8 tonight); Mission Space was 90 minutes; Test Track was 100 minutes (according to the message board)...so we contented ourselves w/"just looking" (still a treat...I sat and watched "my" dancing fountain for 15 minutes while DS checked out MouseGear...it was then near 3 and we decided a "food nap" was in order...

So, we headed back to SSR (and the bus luck is holding...bus waits were less than 5 minutes on both legs of the trip)...DS is still asleep...I just went over to Artists Palette to get some laundry soap (of course DS, a totally normal college kid, brought nothing but dirty clothes with him!)...will run a load somewhere along the line before tomorrow.

We think we're going to do Downtown Disney tonight...altho when he wakes up, DS may change our minds...we have ADRs for each day of the trip, but per our normal tradition, we'll rethink each one and keep a few and change a few (depending on availability, of course)..;.but I promise we'll cancel those we don't keep so someone else can use them...

Oh, learned something new at Italy--we stopped by the new Italian restaurant, and decided it looked intriguing...since we were right there, and there were no lines at check-in, I decided to just ask if they had something open tomorrow...they did (we've now canceled Coral Reef for 4 tomorrow if someone wants that ADR!), and the CM at the desk said asking for the next day (or later) at the restaurant can net you an ADR even if Disney Dining has said no...I didn't know that...thought it was an interesting tidibit...

Weather is gorgeous here...mostly sunny, a gentle breeze...hot in the sun in the middle of the day, but otherwise "fresh" (mid 70's, I'd say)...perfect for us!

Bliss continues...

:lmao:

It must really feel like home when your DS brings his dirty laundry with!:goodvibes

Sounds wonderful, despite the crowds:wizard:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

How thankful I feel this morning for the many, many blessings that enrich my life...it would seem we're emerging from a "challenging phase" and moving into one of the good ones...news from the home front has me celebrating (nothing important--just a new client that will allow me to pay for DS' law school (assuming that yesterday's announcement that that is is his intention--or at least it's what he's looking at right now--doesn't change)...

DS and I are having a wonderful, relaxing time...yesterday we tried the new Yak & Yeti restaurant at AK ... we really liked it. I want to say the food is better than it is...the setting is gorgeous and the CMs were outstanding...but the bottom line is that the food is good. No better than good, but no worse than good, either...just good. Interesting chinesey-type choices...DS had honey chicken which was delicious...I had stir fried beef and brocolli which was kind of bland...the seared potstickers were excellent; the lettuce cups are a fairly unuusal choice to find and are a terrific appetizer, altho the chicken mixture that goes into the lettuce cups needed lots of sauce...but they give you lots of two kinds of sauce (plus a third kind that came w/the pot stickers) and all were very good...

Then for dinner we tried the new Italian restaurant at Epcot (Tutto Italian)..my DS said it's even better than Alfredo's was...I found it not all that different...no fettucini alfredo on the menu, but it "looks" just the same and I didn't think the menu seemed all that different, either...one of our favorite items, the mozarella & tomatoes appetizer highlighted the difference between DS and me...I like my moz "hard-ish"; he likes his soft & creamy...so he was in heaven because Tutto's moz is very soft & creamy...I was less pleased, but still liked it...

I had been all psyched to see Epcot's Christmas lights after dinner last night, but alas, it was not to be...the tree is up and lit, and the archway is also up...but only white lights lit...we're guessing the beautiful colored lights "show" will start tonight or perhaps tomorrow night...we're going to the Candlelight Processional tomorrow night, so we'll see than...

Today, we have ADRs at CA Grill for our T-giving dinner...we're both eagerly looking forward to that...afterwards, we'll head to MK to see it all lit up for Christmas..."the plan" is to stay for Spectromagic and for Wishes, and then if we have any energy left, head over to the Poly to see the water parade...these are "mom plans"...DS, at 20, is content w/very little time at MK...and he'd rather go over to see Fantasmic at the Studios...I'm also up for seeing Fantasmic (one of the two best shows at Disney, we think...the other is the Nemo musical at AK, which is phenomenal!), but think I'd rather do that tomorrow or Sat...it's unlikely we'll go back to MK at night after tonight...and we'll be right there...so, we'll see how that works out...

May life's blessings fall in generous measure on all of you, and hope you all have a wonderful day!

We're here at SSR, too - in the Paddock (which I had always thought was so far away from the main areas, but have now found that it isn't bad at all) in a 2 BR.
We have been eating up a storm this week - table service each night (we are using DDE for the great discount) and no cooking for me at all :)
So far we've been to Cindy's Royal Table, the Biergarten for DS's 22nd birthday dinner, and Thanksgiving at the Garden Grill.

I guess we were expecting a crowd-crush similar to NY's eve, but we have been surprised overall at the lack of crowds - MK was packed for Wishes on Tuesday night, and tonight was crowded there, too, but Epcot hasn't seemed too bad this time around. We haven't made it over to MGM or AK yet.

Definitely more people out today than were out on Wednesday; nice weather - warm, with some sprinkles today....I spent the early afternoon in the hot tub at the main pool. :wizard: Magical!
Xmas decorations are up and are beautiful as always. :santa:

Such a nice way to spend Thanksgiving!! :woohoo:

'Tis the last night...we had a terrific day--the DisMeet that DianeSchlict organized was great...so good to meet people who feel like friends from all our posting...also, we met up w/DS' half brother (my former stepson, whom I love dearly) and his wife and kids and spent 4 wonderful hours w/them at AK...it was "an accident of fate" that we were all at WDW at the same time...and kudos to DS and his bro for organizing the get-together (and whodda thunk my wunnerful 20-year-old who has never organized anything in his life would have pulled it off so successfully?!?)...what a treat it was...

Just back from dinner and a final wander-around Downtown Disney...we both leave early in the morning...DS to go back to college; me back to work! The big challenge now is to find room in my suitcases for the stuff DS doesn't want to carry back to school!

For those arriving soon: crowds are already lessening...longest wait of the day at AK was (surprise) Expedition Everest--50 minutes at noon....Kali River Rapids only 20 minutes and the Safari only 30 minutes...walkways were jam-packed, but ride waits very modest (all things considered)...

Epcot tonight was at its gorgeous best and not too awfully crowded;...but the most major fall-off in hordes was at Downtown Disney...MUCH less crowded than it's been all week...

So...farewell to SSR and WDW for now...we'll be back "soon" (early Jan)...happy holidays to all who read my "mental meanderings" this wonderful, lovely week!

We are saying goodbye to SSR today, too - going through the "have to pack now" ritual....my DD doesn't want to leave.
The DIS meet yesterday was great! I think we may have found the hidden mickey on the WL's fireplace wall .... I think....maybe. :confused3

Thanks for the awesome trip report! Sounds like you and your son are both at a very happy place in your lives.

Congrats to you and your family, continued good fortunes!
