SO, Do you think the DVC Contemporary is dead or not?

I think he got the news from his brother's ex-girlfriend's cousin's sister-in-law's hairdresser who asked a bus driver at WDW.

Given the recent permits found...I'm guessing it's slated as coming after AKV and after DL....

SOMETHING seems to be happening there, anyway, even if it's not a DVC resort (hard to believe). I find it hard to believe they'd continue to work on and pursue permits for a "dead project".

Hate to put a serious post on this, but I have moved from the "it will come" to the "maybe never" camp.

Or realistically, the "maybe, maybe not" camp would be more accurate.

With WDW experiencing record attendance crowds in 2006 and continued growth in resort bookings (see "scarcer resort room discounting and codes" posts), all of a sudden they might see the CR location as an opportunity beyond DVC. Who knows? Sometimes though, it seems like we all think that Disney's only future plans are for more DVC and nothing else.

Actually two of the choices are close to being the same. I think they will build there eventually. Just do not know what the time frame will be, because I don't think they know.

I know they are going to expand at WDW, that is a given. I also think they plan these things, and then they shelve them for various reasons. I know they were going to the Contemporary and then backed off and announced AKV. That does not mean there will never be a DVC there, it just means not now and who knows when.

I also know they love all the speculation we do, I was told it was "downright amusing".

thanks you for posting this poll - I almost did something similar.

I am just so confused.

I certainly don't know if it is coming or not - a couple of years ago I would have say definitely. but the new rooms are a big hit and the Cont is now a hot item (hasn't been a hot item since the 70's)

so your guess is at good as anyone.

oh well one day!!!

I think there is some confusion here and at Disney.

As we all know, the VCR is dead. That is the Video Cassette Recorder. When the folks at Disney heard that the VCR was dead, they thought it meant the Villas at the Contemporary Resort (VCR) and immediately made plans for the AKV instead. This is true because I heard it from a member of the housekeeping staff at the BWV. At least I think that's what she said but I'm not as fluent at Spanish as I used to be.

When we took the Innovations in Action tour the guides wouldn't comment on the next DVC only that Disney had plans for more DVC resorts but no plans for any future regular ones. sounds like you have it right.

We have a friend who works for Disney & he thinks the DVC at the Contemporary will be in the works before the AKV is finished - just like the AKV is starting up as they start the final phase of SSR. The DVC is a good money maker so they'll keep building them as long as the demand is there...guess we'll all know for sure in a couple of years...
